I’d question your relationship with your dealer, and call around the next time you’re interested in a GT variant. First time Porsche owner, walked into my local dealer mid Nov. 2022 inquiring on a GT4, woke up on the the 26th to an email stating they chose me for one of their allocations. I paid MSRP… no Porsche financing, no trade in, no watch purchase, no extended anything or maintenance packages.. blah blah. All this at the time where many were paying up to $20K ADM. I now have a good standing relationship with this dealership/SA, as they gained my business, not the other way around. They will continue to be my preferred dealership of choice, though my interests are solely aligned with a dealership that can get me what my heart desires at that time.

Is anyone aware that these cars are often listed “showcased” for sale/available on YouTube…? All you have to do is search Porsche 718 GT4, filter to Upload Date. You just have to sort out the ones not in your country.

Lol, "call around", sure bud. Congrats you got your car at MSRP, you're either in the minority or we're all idiots.

Anyone see this on BAT

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...cayman-gt4-10/

This PDK poverty spec GT4 looked like it was going to stall around $102K, then a knock out bid of $125K hits and closes.

Who the hell does that.

Odds buyer backs out? Mistaken bid?

That insane knockout bid is curious. I mean, why? I can't come up with a reasonable explanation except someone with a bank statement we could only dream about and $25K is literally nothing to him/her.

Buyer has 3 comments on the site, 2 of which are from earlier this year when his sons encouraged him to list his 2003 Unimog because at 76 he doesn't drive it much any more, and one from last week when he wanted to get in touch with the seller of a Cobra replica that RNA'd...sounds like an interesting dude, one way or another.

I'm trying to squash my first thought which is that it's someone the seller knows and the car was about to go for stupid cheap so they had a friend bid big to avoid them losing their shirt. I guess outside of that maybe just someone who doesn't know how the site works or who had a fair price in their head and didn't want to do a lot of back and forth.

Well, once it closed BAT pulled $5,000 off the winning bidders credit card so I duuno about that technique.

I guess you can fight the charges and get banned from BAT…

If original seller thinks they can get $107K+ ($102K bid + $5K fee), then they might be happy eating the BaT fee.

But I don’t know what the seller was expecting for a base stripper car.

Fighting credit card charges is not as easy as it used to be, at least with Capital One! Things have shifted to where they favor the retailer over the customer.

American Express might be better on that front

Some interesting dynamics in the GT4 market, I see cars for sale sitting for longer but there is very low supply in Canada. Cars are still commanding strong premiums over msrp across all model years and options.
