Is the general consensus that a 10% premium over the original MSRP is about market (unless it a very special PTS, etc) for a used example? I seem to run across most dealers still asking at least 15% over even after negotiations. I’m in the market for a Spyder, but don’t want to overpay just like the next guy. I guess the market will speak if a car sits for too long as they’re only worth what someone is willing to pay. Patience is key I suppose…I’m also probably in the minority wanting a PDK with the 18-ways. I had the original gen 987 Spyder with buckets and got tired of the gymnastics getting in & out - though they looked great.
You won't find "deals" at dealers, they can command the highest price due to the convenience/CPO/reputation of buying from a Porsche dealer. If you want 10% over the original MSRP you need to buy used private party or some 3rd party dealer.
And be sure to pull a DME report on a non-CPO 6mt car (including at a Porsche dealer) if you go that route. It's not uncommon for folks to sell to a third party because Porsche denied CPO (and thus offered a lower price) due to over revs (I think in Range 3+?). And if you see any 982 6mt cars that aren't CPO and being sold by a Porsche dealer, it's almost certainly because of over revs that disqualify it (almost not worth checking, IMO).

Most recent sales/auction results are around 107%. I'm also in the market and have been monitoring the data closely. Assuming 107-110% holds, this car should push towards $118k-$122k + $5k fee. Won't surprise me if it's lower give it has no PCCB, no buckets, and is a relatively bland spec otherwise.
And I couldn't agree more that patience is the name of the game. I might ignore that if I find a spec I fall in love with, but I haven't so far.

Right on the dot! $121k+fee. I think it was a little steep. There was no DME report, bland spec, Seller has been MIA for 3 days not answering questions. I've seen CPO spyders at local dealers sell in the ~125 range.
I'm kind of in the market if i can find a reasonable upgrade from my GTS. It's a suuper incremental upgrade, so i'm not willing to dump tons of money into it. Will continue to wait.

According to the finance paperwork seller financed $139K after putting down $15K…total all in $154ish.
You think he’d be proactive on the board and provide a DME to get the most back.
Good example of how not to buy (or sell) one of these…

I’m curious…which GTS are you looking to upgrade from? 718 4.0? I’ve considered a 981 GTS as an alternative to the 718 Spyder. Obviously a much different car from a power standpoint, but thinking about overall value proposition from a fun standpoint.

I have a 718 BGTS 4.0. I've just been a little jelly of the styling and humps of the Spyder lol. Don't get me wrong, I think the GTS 4.0 is fantastic, and I much prefer SPASM over GT suspension, but if it just looked a little more aggressive i'd be happy. The price gap between the GTS 4.0 and Spyder seems to have grown quite a bit though recently, the msrp gap was only $10k equally specced. I'm willing to pay up to $20k more, but right now its looking closer to $25-30k gap. So I'll just wait it out, maybe when the GTS 4.0 goes out of production, the prices will normalize.
A color-blind person must have configured red calipers with yellow stitching. Wtf?
I keep thinking why people spec the cars in such ways, sometimes they do exact opposite with yellow PCCB's and red stitching. Or yellow cars with red stitching, blue cars with red stitching, etc... Does not make any sense to me.
Plus this car seems to be pretty base spec with only leather interior and PDK.
as a colorblind person i can confirm that yellow/red is terrible, but you hit a nerve with blue/red my BGTS is sapphire blue metallic with red calipers, stitching and tach. i had a hard time with the combo when initially looking at the car, but i have grown to love it, and think silver stitching and black calipers would be ok but boring i like the red stitching so much that i spent STUPID money on red stitching on my spyder.
My car was spec'd by Porsche (or the dealership, can't recall which) and matched the calipers to the stitching (red), but optioned gold wheels with GT Sliver. On paper, it seemed like such an odd choice, but I really dig it in person (maybe this shows lack of taste or bias on my part, lol). Personally would've preferred black calipers, though.

I think aurum/gold wheels go great with GT Silver.
