Actually considering the exchange rate, this would be a steal for a US buyer!

Anyone has any idea what happened here? Looked like a perfectly specced (Gentian, 6sp, PCCB, LWBS, blue stitching), very low mile (1800 miles) Spyder. $98k RNM bid on a $126k MSRP. No comments, no action...

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-718-spyder-8/

EDIT: Oops, I thought I was looking at closed auctions. Nevermind...

The link takes me to an auction that ends in 5 days . . . guessing the action will pick up in a few days.

Blue stitching is fun. I'd swap out the interior trim for aluminum either bare or dark. Unlike on the 987 the body colored interior doesn't work as well for me on the newer cars. And refinish the wheels silver. Then you've got a hell of a Spyder.

The car was listed for sale by the same
dealer (I didn’t take note of what they were asking) but they since took down the for sale ad. Guess they weren’t getting any takers at whatever they had it listed for, so are going this route instead.

I remember seeing the ad as well. I just assumed it was sold after the ad was taken down. $129K was the asking price iirc but they messed/gamed around by increasing $5k one day and then dropping it back down by $5k shortly after. So they think they will get a better price after tagging extra $5k on auction fee? I would never use auction sites such as BaT unless it's for an ultra rare car or the winning bid is at a bargain basement level that would more than offset the auction fee.

Nonetheless, a very nice build.

This failed to meet reserve or even $100K on a $121,6XX build

Not much love for these 25th ANNV cars

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...years-6-speed/

The consigner said "close" for reserve

A classic demonstration of rare not necessarily meaning desirable. I think it is a nice package, but most (I bet) would not value it higher than an equally equipped GTS.

The red dash on its own is usually a turn off. The red/gold combo is just too gaudy for most. Can you live with it for 10 years? The ones sporting the black interior would probably do much better.

Then it sorta defeats the purpose of the "special" model going black leather, no? One issue is the Boxster Red interior of the 2000s is a nicer, muted color than the red of today. I think ideally you would have had less chintzy gold in this model and it would have only come in GT Silver with a pale red, leather interior (like the old cars). And maybe throw the tune on the car from the Spyder instead of the GTS 4.0. I still don't think it would have added huge value, but it might have made it more desirable than what we have here which is just an uglier GTS.

Are RS60 Boxsters trading for a noticeable premium over equivalent regular Boxsters of the time?

For the 25th they should have given it the Spyder's front, tune, and suspension, basically an auto-top Spyder. Maybe with a darker, Burgundy red leather or a gold accent here and there. Now THAT would have sold.
