We started exhaust development on the GT4 RS platform a few weeks ago, seems there will be some pretty serious gains to be had in all areas from just a rear silencer replacement. Weight saving, tone / quality of sound, power and torque.
Stock rear silencer is pretty heavily compromised. Super heavy and essentially an adapted 718 GT4 / Spyder unit and certainly not titanium like I’ve seen a few mention.
Factory manifolds and OPF / Link Pipes are a huge improvement in design over that of the non RS model but there’s still gains to be had in those areas too.
We’re planning to offer a number of rear silencer replacements as the first step then once our car arrives move onto manifolds / headers & Link Pipes.
I’ll be sure to post once we have something a little more exciting to share

Thanks for the update Jonny....I was expecting this. Same design as on the 4.0 9A2 engined models. One thing that would be nice is for those with Weissach the ability to reuse the Ti exhaust tips.....also, with all the sound going on on this car IMO a silenced and valved rear section is a must....keep us posted.

Agree. This system needs to be valved. Very excited to hear JCR is working on a free flowing system but surprised to hear you say the OEM system on WP cars aren’t made of titanium when Porsche states they are. Just the tips?

I had only heard the tips were titanium.
Otherwise, there would actually be a performance and weight benefit to the WP.

Exactly - there isn’t any performance benefit. I wonder if Porsche has decided to make all WP’s purely cosmetic now (unless you use it as a gateway to Mag wheels) and save all the real benefits for the MR editions?

Valved and Non Valved options with and without silencers so much like the options we have available for 718 GT4 currently
We will certainly test the option of being able to retain factory tips but most likely the performance gains that we can find will be all but removed by retaining them. With this in mind we have already designed a OEM like Titanium tip option to work with our design of rear silencer

Only the tips yes

Absolutely, that’s likely to be part of the reason for such compromises being made

Should know pretty soon with 992RS…
And the very reason I couldn't see any benefit to getting a WP on that car. Save the $30k from the WP to get wheels and an exhaust aftermarket. And still have money left over for tires, brakes and track days.

The WP is actually $13,250. It doesn't get to $30k unless you add the $15,640 Magnesium wheels.
My question is how will the interior sound differ from the WP with Carbon Fiber intake ducts and air box when compared to the plastic pieces in the non-WP car.

There is at least one press review that says the sound and power are the same.
Leather/Rac-Tex Interior upgrade is $2,160 with or without the WP, but you are correct you must get it if the WP is optioned, making the WP a $15,410 option.

And it you spent the $15 on the WP are you really passing on the wheels? The actual weight savings?
