This...I quit racing a long time ago due to the cost and the logistics. Even took a vacation from anything sport car related didn't last too long of course.
Too bad a large number of RSs will never touch a track...not even an AutoX. They become C&C specials and last until Porsche comes out with a new shiny thing.
I don't say everyone should become a track rat but at least a couple of times everyone should experience what these cars were design for on a controlled environment.

Regarding the Doug Munro review and comments on the MT, given that most of you here are looking at major track time for the RS are there many or any of you that in that environment would want a MT over the PDK?

‘It’s ironic. When you have a tracked street car, you long to go WtW. After getting a truck, trailer, and a million other things, you then see guys drive up in the car you used to have, drive out directly on track, and you think to yourself how easy it used to be. 10% of the work and cost for 90% of the fun.

I think its a valid concern. IF Porsche does come out with a manual, I for sure would prefer that since I enjoy shifting my own gears regardless of lap times, it would mean that values on these initial cars could depreciate faster as they hit the open market. I think many would trade them in for the manual version. Then again, who knows? its a crazy market right now... The GT4RS is just a very special and desirable thing regardless of gearbox. anyone who will get one is extremely lucky

The number of money shifts in a manual that accelerates as fast and hard as these do from 8 to 9 k would be astronomic ... Said otherwise a 50 k mistake waiting to happen.
Buy the manual GT4 if you want the old school experience.

Only happens when you choose the wrong gear on downshift.
I think it would be awesome. People said a manual on the 991 GT3 would be crazy too - then came the 911R and 991.2 GT3 and 992 GT3 Manual…

No, a money shift doesn’t result from not keeping up with the quick revs on upshifts (bouncing off the limiter is relatively harmless).
Only happens when you choose the wrong gear on downshift.

I don't think the PDKs would depreciate if a Manual comes out....it's just another choice on an awesome car
Also keep in mind, the Manual / driver involvement movement is not that strong outside the US.....I can tell you from experiences on 981 GT4 Manual, 718 GT4 PDK and 991.2 GT3 Manual.
If the prospective used car buyer is a collector/Porsche enthusiast/manual fan then they will gravitate towards those models but the fact is that a large number of potential buyers on the used car market, and I'm not talking about RL, are not into those categories and a PDK is sometime a must for them...easier to sell. At least that's my experience south of the border.....
