Yes and no - what would a 3.8L RHD 964 race car cost to build, coz you can't buy one here?

Your 964 must owe you north of $100K, your car is in mint condition compared to this one, but the Aussie car has a 'hot engine' worth $40K to build??

The more you think about it...........the more road going 996 GT3's at $75K seem a bargain, as a drive to the track HD sub 1.14 car, or 1.10 if you purchased a cup car for similar money??

I guess, there's definitely not a lot around and why I just bought a US car. I'm not going to complain about your valuation too much, my RS replica falls in to that camp.

I haven't seen or heard of another 964, RHD, road legal race car come up for sale since I bought mine back at the end of 2011 which is why I don't regret buying it and spending what I have on it.

That said, at 90k I would be doing the numbers on building my own from scratch rather than someone else's because it's getting close.

Going to 3.8 is easy enough in the rebuild process. It's going wild with aftermarket ECUs, cranks, oil pumps, rods, bolts etc that really put the cost through the roof and would push a build from high 90s to high 110s.

You're right on the GT3s but they're not air cooled

Had 6.5 years in Singapore (until 2011) and then the last 2.5 years in NZ, think we'd have much to talk about! Definitely up for a beer in HK, plus I'll be in SG quite a bit as well.

It's pretty funny how popular this thread is versus other local threads, are we really that much more fanatical than the Aussies (or anyone else in the AP region), or do they just post elsewhere?
