Chris. Nice plan assume cayman for targa duties. There is a written of 997.1 gt3 on TM for 30k may be worth buying and doing an engine transplant. 415 bhp dry sump mezger in cayman body for 70k would make a really awesome tarmac ralley and track car. Better ye it wouldn't have to be a stripper as you'll have plenty of power to weight and none of the M96/97 issues...

Ok team - here's a proposal for 1 Dec NZ Rennlisters/RSG pre Xmas drive followed by a quiet ale &/or orange juice...
10:30am meet up - Smales farm carpark. 2-3 hour country road blast NW Akl (route to be determined - maybe someone else can chip in here). Meet at Hallertau (brewpub on Coatsville/Riverhead highway) for light lunch and a few bevvies. Plenty of room for cars to park and have a gander.
Drive not compulsory so feel free to join in at 2pm for the meet up.
Post below if keen. If enough interest I'll sort a reserved space for us at Hallertau. Also, if someone wants to volunteer as route master that would be great.
Confirmed so far:
1. Pete
2. Macca

Not sure I'd be brave enough to run a no reserve auction. This will be really interesting to watch, tipo or not. Added to the watchlist!

Read my mind - that's where I was about to bid before reading your post. Sweep on where it's going to end up?
$10k is just on safe if it needs a rebuild. The white cab in Hamilton is asking $32.5k with rebuild by Steve. Factor in more if the suspension is shot. Be interested to know what tweaks it has beyond the strut brace. Silver on black looks very nice - I'd be happy with that for a DD

Yes, it need to be a manual conversion. Check with Steve. He may have done one of these before. Possible worth looking at the 6 speed unit if you are going to the trouble and a G50/32 re gear (lower rations ala 993 Cup) if you are considering a box that needs a rebuild. early box has the removable 2nd gear cog. Would most definitely need coilovers and adjustable ARBs for Targa work. Could build a nice track/targa machine from that for 70K or less if you get it right price.

Im afraid Matt is probably right. Ive looked into it before and its not even attempted often in the UK or USA where money seems no object.
Pete you highlight the real issue. At the end of the day it all comes back to a GT3. That red Mk2 ex targa car for 75k or the silver one all ready to go if he would come down in price. Then there was the black one Matty looked at around 80K. All of these options will work out cheaper in the medium term than a custom built car or 964 tipo conversion to targa....maybe not as much fun tho...

Surfing the net - LA Dismantlers do a package for $7K USD, so must be circa $15-20K NZD by the time landed and sorted?? (Almost the cost of a SITargaT
