John. Interesting idea about the seat. Give it a try this weekend and see if it works. It may be a cheap solution to tie you over. You will eventually need a bucket I suspect. Surely someone/many on the 964 or race board has been through this many times already. You cant be the tallest guy on the planet ever to have circled a track with a helmet on? IME the Yanks can be rather big/tall...

Garty is a big guy 6'4 or 5. But he drove my 993 at Puke with standard seats and managed to fit in it (just) with a helmet on. I think the blue car Yoda built for him just had a steel single skin roof and a race bucket bolted to the rails so plenty of extra space. He drove his yellow 964RS fine around the track and that had the factory buckets on sliders but no sunroof.
John, I think to solve the problem properly you may have to look towards a sunroof delete option (will save some weight was well).

John - are those 4 way electric seats? Let me know how you go as I only need about 5 cm more to get perfect height but would still want the electrics to function.

Yes, I have two sets of buttons. Tonight I'm going to pull the clips and see how much it sags. Like a student flat sofa! Longer term there may be better solutions out there, but this is immediate and cheap. Both good attributes.

My race seat has generous base cushions velcroed in, there would be a few cm there. Custom made slimmer ones would gain a bit more. Give mine a go at minimum settings with standard bits, then gain some by reduced padding. Also if you don't mind a bit of rake and have a steering wheel like John's that brings it out to you a bit more to compensate. I fantasised about some shells with minimum padding earlier from Composite Worx. My Aussie mate picked up a set for his Elise and sent me the details, but they are expensive.

To date the aftermarket selection doesn't seem to be plentiful. The closest seems to be the Recaro PP as produced for the RS and Speedster. Blame that on a narrow space with the transmission tunnel and an offset with the pedals.
I'm not sure how much room I need to clear the headlining. I will work it out tonight.
