Im very impressed with the Ford product lately and Im very much interested to drive a GT350R Mustang while Im here but the car is heavily back ordered and you dont see them on the road...

Today we were taken to the home of a pre imminent Porsche engine builder (worked for RUF and Porsche Motorsports under Albert Springer) by the friend we are staying with (whom also raced with Hans Stuck). David is pretty much the only guy rebuilding GT1 engines in the world (there were only 14 or so of these cars campaigned globally in 1990s). REALLY interesting guy, who knows most of the famous names in Motorsports. We spent a few hours at his home and then went to lunch. Blown away by the connections and stories. I thought Id seen/heard it all LOL! heres a few pictures from his place (some of the cars are clients hes working on in his retirement - he restored the famous Hurley Haywood 930 race car above and has had a number of award winning cars). he may come visit us in NZ some day I hope...

P.S. David was one of the top 962 race mechanics on teh planet and helped the factory iron out a few wrinkles. the crank below is GT1 and I believe the melted cylinder 962. he took us through the GT1 engine in detail. Incredible engine, all one off Motorsport parts, cams are hollow and lightened weigh less than half the ones in my 993, much else including studs and fasteners are titanium, many covers are magnesium, these are 40 hour engines and today to rebuild one of these periodic would be probably 100K+...

P.S. Dave is like Steve R. Has 20 cars of his own unfinished in a shed only, 3-4 runners (very nice carrera 3.0 in fully restored condition in green in picture), has a tonne of rare racing parts and very well connected with the factory (helped solve 962 engine oiling problem for Porsche etc).

Great day. Tomorrow is a big one...
Ohh man what a workshop!! Much prefer that look than the manicured perfect clean garage with two cars.

Well today has started well. We went flying with a group of enthusiasts to a War bird Museum for breakfast on the Space Coast. One of the planes we flew close formation with was occupied by Scott McLeod former Apollo test Astronaut. Was an honor to meet him. On the return flight we were given special permission to fly over Kennedy Space center shuttle runway and launch facility (we were very lucky as there was a rocket launch shortly after and permission is not often granted). We have been very blessed on this trip, every day gets more and more jaw dropping and exciting!

P.S crazy as its seems most of the 50+ military/Navy aircraft in the collection dating from WWI still fly regularly (including the B-25 bomber!).

Its true. I'm very thankful. A little of the luck I created myself giving up a considerable amount of my time to the global GT3 community, particularly with co founding the GT3 World Wide Action Group, which is in some way kinda instrumental to how it all came together....

After our flights this morning we headed out to take a look at Daytona Beach. We were lucky enough to see the rocket launch from Cape Canaveral which we had just flown over an our before!

Tonight we met some wonderful people at a party our friends organised in our honor. One of the worlds leading Automotive Analysts (a banker), the former owner of Road Atlanta Raceway, a CANAM race driver and a Swiss man who circumnavigated the globe in a home built plane with his bicycle in the back!

Here are a few photos from today including some Trump Supporter "buttons" I took for Chris M LOL! P.S. the 918 is Weissich Edition (I think that's like another 100K for a wrap, some wheels and something else I forgotten.

Part of the problem? This afternoon I had some lessons at the gun range. Quite astounded what's for sale over the counter for $500 only a little way away from Orlando where we got some sad news this morning....

Read something recently ( was anniversary of John Lennon murder) that more than 1 million Americans have died from gunshot wounds since John's death in 1980 - 28000/yr. Not too hard to figure out .
