1976 930T with 17,000 genuine miles 100% perfect paint just sold via Porsche Classic to collector 220k USD, believed to be one of most original in USA.

1991 964 3.3T in special order Zerm Silver with 33k miles and full respray/Porsche Classic resto - interior (special wishes version leather) absolutely like it left factory and now exterior too - asking 149k USD.

930 1980s full Porsche Classic resto low miles 185k USD, not dissimilar to yours Pel!!

993 C4S and turbos too. All moonbeams. The 1970 2.2 911E was in original condition not a resto or concourse queen asking 84k. Slant nose SE mint low asking 991 RS money.

991 GT3 still selling over MSRP and 991RS still 40-60k over!!

I know the FED are being cautious but I've seen tonnes of real estate under development and plenty of demand for $$$$ cars, most interesting stuff - even the cheap stuff like Focus RS and Mustang GT350 on long wIt list or asking overs....can't see anything wrong with the US economy - FED are calling it safe - USA is ok and on its way....

Must remember - many of these absolute best of breed with "Porsche Classic" work and stamp of approval - sourced and priced for the top of market (US collectors/investors etc).

wow, great showroom. We are heading to NY & San Fran next month. Hopefully there is a Porsche Classic Centre to check out. When you consider the restoration costs the asking prices seem reasonable. Keep the pics coming!

San Fran is always good Porsche perving as I have some mad GT3 peeps there like Mooty on these boards to visit. Ill ask him where is best to visit for you...

There are only two Porsche Classic Centres currently in USA I believe (list below).

Here are a few more pictures. I got a few details mixed up - the 1970 2.2T was 96K. Genuine car in "original condition" probably a 1980s respray and not sure that colour is correct. That car needs a restoration to get it to Concourse standard but the interior and exterior very good base. It rains 10 days a year in these parts so rust is not an issue!

Interestingly RHD cars are of ZERO interest over here it would seem. I mentioned some of the "cheap" comparative pricing of our cars here to the Porsche Classic GM, Michael and he was curious but told me American buyers just arent interested...

There were around 100-150 brand new Porsches in the showroom, on the yard as well as a Porsche Classic cafe and full Tequipment showroom and Exclusive showroom. I think the only better set up Ive seen is Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart. the new cars didn't really interest but it was curious to find an absolute absence of GT cars on the yard of any generation...mind you the roads are totally uninteresting here and very bumpy in town, I should think a GT3 is the last car you would want to own if you lived here unless you left it at the race track...

The only "proper" track here is a private affair - http://www.springmountainmotorsports...ity/race-track - very impressive layout and some quite tricky corners - claims to be USA longest track with full config at 6.1 miles. Id like to have had the time to visit but its not open it to the public and Monday we are in Arizona and Grand Canyon etc.

After that in Florida and hope to visit legendary 962 (IMSA) engine builder David Glenn and his workshop via a friend as well as attend a number of events as guest where I will meet some interesting US Motorsports folk. Also two days at Sebring and a tour of Daytona Raceway.

Will try and keep this thread updated from time to time :-)

P.S. Owners 991 GT3RS in PTS colour "Rosso Red" (looks much nicer in the flesh). Also next door his 993 C4S 1996 in Arena Red...

Nice Macca - will be a very interesting trip. The engine building visit sounds expensive. Still committed to 993 plan I see. Is a visit to Singer on the cards?? Keep the updates coming.

Hi Graeme. I am in Malibu for a few days on the way back staying with Watt Webb and picking up some custom made headers, but unfortunately I have little time to organise a visit to Singer. I would love to do this (still have the book at home unread on my "to do list"), but may have to leave it to a future trip.

The visit to Dave wasn't infact initiated on the basis of scoping a 993 engine upgrade (that was likely to be a trip to Oregon to visit Steve Wiener and Rothsport). However you've given me an idea now ;-)

Very sad to hear today Playdays will no longer be operating at Hampton Downs. I attended my first ever track day with those boys running the show in March 2013 and haven't looked back since (last track day 30 March fast lap below. Gary and Tony have been great and Im sure RSG will support them in their future events - most likely quite a few more Taupo and even Puke days on the cards and that's no bad thing IMO. For those who are flush Hampton's can still be accessed regularly via membership to "GT Club"....

Hi Mark,

Say Hi to Watt for me Looks like you're having a great time there, glad I'm not the only one who goes visiting car dealerships while overseas!!!

I did the last Playdays event at Hampton's today. Very foggy and wet from that to start.... did 1.30 in the first session and was happy with that. Then cleared and dried to beautiful day. Managed a 1.12.8 in the third session, mostly 1.13s when clear track. You were right about the track being fast and grippy in the cold. 15 degrees C today. The half worn MPSC2s weren't a problem, car still understeered under power, setup still same as trofeo R except a little more camber, very little.

Hi Leong. That track is almost always faster (dry) in winter...only thing is it's winter so I'm never there! Weather gods look like they put in a great show today and interesting that your MPSC2 pretty much as quick as your TrofeoR. The MPSC2 is a great tyre IMO. Sorry I missed that last Playdays HD day. I don't see myself getting there very often moving forward at this rate. I did try to organise an RSG day there for November/early Dec but the track is completely booked out. It's quite a bit more expensive too....an end to an era....

Mission complete. No probs at all. Slightly noisey wheel bearing and lots more rattles (the fixit it bill for those goes to Doug for taking us on roads that you've never heard of.
