Love the original wheels on 964s and late g series cars, my favourite.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. This car is very unlikely to see Trade Me when the time comes to sell.

I already have the T shirt for too many cars and it's only a matter of time until its fixed up and starting to annoy me with garage space blocked out.

Anyway first viewing and drive this morning. Can't wait.

Let me know when you want to come down. 6 cars on site is a logistical exercise that needs careful planning to dig out the deepest one.

Linen is quite a luxurious looking leather colour (esp raff) but can be hard to live with. I thought it looked really good in Mr Black (except it was getting a bit tatty) largely because of the contrast with the black exterior (of course black on black looks great too). With a silver exterior it might look better going black to get the contrast (or Matador Red!!) but the linen with black piping looks pretty smart too.

The spend has started. $245 for a new battery. Then an urgent run to the petrol station. It took 69 litres so evidently not much was left in the tank.

I spent a bit of time looking at the obvious points with Dave. I think he nailed it. Optics blinded us to its merits. Aside from the immediate annoyance of the immobiliser its a great drive as is.

It came with service slips from Motorscience. The $8,000 job was a full service, abs repair etc. No evidence of a top end but then no smoking either. Gearshift is good and the interior colour is not offensive at all.

I'm not going to overdo this, as it doesn't need it. I'll give it a wash this afternoon and change the seats out for the OEM ones from Herman.

I'll also put a call out for an original steering wheel. No pressure Doug....I know you have one

No way. If Nigel had kept his cool on his Trademe auction then this car would have auctioned out of my reach in price. Albeit I can see why Jeremy sold, it's not a turn key stunner. I have different interests and it's perfect albeit I was really looking forward to dropping the engine and box. Given the history there's little point in that.

Having a look now at the seats. They will be the first items along with the carpet. That will take up a few weekends. Right now I'm wondering if I should do the road trip in it to prove its reliability.

IMO you would be better stress testing it with a few laps of HD at the next track day. Not so far to trailer it if it packs a sad. Herman is the keeper so make the memories with it...

Oh ye of little faith.

Seat swapped as is right rear indicator. Water in the front and rear mats on the driver side. This will take some detective work.

You are welcome to borrow my original wheel to try it out and see if you like it on long term loan

Shorter shake downs would be smarter. I'm with Dave. Besides we want Herman along for the trip and so do you so you can mark an X for the 4 points of the compass.
