There is simply not enough demand??

If you, Gary D, Matt B and about 10 others south of the Waikato can commit to attending a day, we will punt we can get a few PCNZ members and RSG guys to make up the balance.

It will also probably need to be around Mar/Apr to not compete with NITT.

Let me know.
Hey bud, as I said things have improved. Its also not all about trackdays. To be honest I only rejoined PCNZ as I had to belong to a club to do the Targa so it made sense to join PCNZ than any other club. Most of my comments refer to past experiences with subsidised dinners etc. To be honest the fee's neither here nor there but when you see it funding events mostly Auckland based or for the old boys (and girls) you a start to question why.... what do you get for your annual fee other than a sticker and magazine. Don't get me wrong... I like the club but the question has to be asked as its not like it struggles financially (or does it?).

I hear you Jamie.........

To quote some famous President dude "Ask what you can do for your PCNZ, not want the PCNZ can do for you".

PCNZ and RSG for that matter are only as strong as the helpers and committee. Both have strong committees so put on quality events.

If you want more events in your area, whether they be Sunday drives or track days, I can put you in touch with all the local club members and you guys can hang and do your own thing. It's all up to individuals - I can put you in contact with likeminded people, but it's up to you to do the rest.

I live in Auckland but from a PCNZ point of view might almost as well live in Naseby as I have young kids, and already give about as much priority to weekend track and racing events as I can get away with. That said, I have always been very happy to be a paying member for most of my Porsche owning life, even while only attending a couple of events a year these last 5 years (IIRC, before the Festival just gone: 3 gymkhanas, two or three Christmas picnics, a garage crawl, an away lunch, a car care talk, and of course as many Dual Sprints as my car would let me run). Pricing always seemed pretty aligned with the nature of the event so I'm not sure there was much if any subsidising going on at that level either.

Yes I could save a few bucks by joining a different MSNZ recognized club instead, but I already get much more than my money's worth from PCNZ. It is great to feel part of a bigger scene, even if it's just reading a travel report in Spiel and then bumping into the writer some months later at a lunch wagon. I enjoyed the racing at the Festival immensely, but I also got a lot out of the drivers dinner where I got to spend time with many more of the local Porsche crowd than ever before, some of whom had only been faceless names or 'that fast old bugger' prior. Even managed to pick up the odd tip along the way.

The kids should soon be able to avoid getting flattened without as much help from me, so am hoping to get along a bit more often.

Of course, getting the most out your membership is easier when you're near lots of other members but that's pretty much par for the course, be it a car club, a dancing club or an orchid growing society. I'm sure that there's always more that can be done for the regions but PCNZ does seem to make some effort to live up to its name. I suppose it can't be everything to everybody though, so - like some others here - I've been happy to supplement my membership with that of more specialised groups like RSG and 2K Cup that cater more specifically to my vices.

Guilty on the dancing front Pete, though it's been in remission. Vettel famously names his cars as lusty ladies, and I can see why. Ceroc is fast and free, with men leading and guiding their partners through the current move, while planning the next ones and threading the floor traffic. It's a lot like driving. I have 'driven' some much better ladies than I have cars.

You should be a spokes person for Ball Room dancing. You could write their advertising copy! You would get good subs from that description. However like Bubas high heel fetish and Petes Salamanda collection I think it best something we keep quietly between ourselves. Given we are sharing secrets I guess I can tell you I have collected snap shots of dwarfs from many cultures and have a collection. Not as exciting as guiding foxy lady between moves but better than potato farming.

Never been brave enough to ask them to pose. Didn't see any for years in Vanuatu. Decided it must be a highly recessive allele. I put the word out and a bounty and within 3 months had two shortlisted from folk taking up the challenge in 6 major islands in the archipelago. There is a difference between short people and genetic dwarfism and we had a few false starts. In the end we found a true dwarf family on the North of the main Island. Very peculiar. With a population of 250,000 Im guessing the gene is a 1/12500 chance here. In my defence I do have a degree in Anthropology so it is a bit more than a passing interest.

Im very jealous of Petes Salamanders tho. Those beggars are really easy to photograph....

Default Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

Beyond servicing, How do you document 250 miles? Keep the receipt for your two tanks of fuel?
