Macca, I just re-read my Herman thread. The sheer scope of it can't be repeated here with an acceptable economic outcome, and that precludes an expensive interior. In some ways GPW is a disappointing colour as it doesn't reward you with gleaming paint work in all but very specific light conditions. Silver is going back to my Turbo 3.6 days, albeit I'm not sure yet which Silver this is. It's not Polar Silver, I know that much. So much to discover. Where has this car been? How many bodged repairs are there? How many little gems? I expect the wheels are Italian replicas. It has a new OEM windscreen so there's $3,000+ in value. I will avoid body, engine and box work unless absolutely necessary but will return it to a near new driving experience and anticipate the usual 964 maintenance issues. Who knows, I may end up like Dave and unable to sell it. However it does give me the luxury of waiting for a third one for a while. There are more manual cars out there. Whether I can get any at a rational price is another matter.

My days of paying those robbers $900+ are gone.

I think I can reuse my 93TRBO plates for close to free. Doesn't seem right though.

I agree I want to get some for the Golf GTI but can't bring myself to spend $1049 on one!

Euro style plates are more reasonable but still a lot for the metal. That's why the outsourced ones are used by some.

Thanks mate. I figured so and resent it....

John. Just get the standard issue plate number and use lisenceplates.tv (they even have the correct NZ font). It will cost you about $200 landed, they are TUV approved plates and will look identical to NZ (you can even get them with the fern!). Ive been buying the for the last 15 years (probably now about 10 or 12 sets if you include replacement ones that have got damaged etc).

Interestingly in 15 years Ive never had an issue with these plates and have run them on EVERY car I've owned. However shortly "Tania the Dreamslayer" will send me a letter telling me that the folks at the LeTSh*tAdorn-you have rained on my parade....

ECS872 has the Euro Style plates so I'll just stick with that.

Friend of mine got nailed for "non official" plates on his 996, they look 100% identical to the personalised plates but the cop pointed out there was no fern hologram on them.

The cops usually have more to be concerned about with my cars. Usually it starts with "how loud is that exhaust"...
