The car was well prepared and they were really easy to deal with.
Thanks Luke. If the Quadrifoglio plan comes off next year id like to swing past the Ring for a few week day summer evening tourist laps. Renting a Swift is a good plan if you don't have your own car. How was the taxi lap in the GT3?

P.S. Your old car is back running again. The current owner sent me a picture!

Now that would be an epic plan! The GT3 lap was phenomenal. I can see why you love yours so much. Amazed how hard you could lean on it, how fast the shift was and the grunt. I went out as the first lap of the day, so he left a bit in reserve, and still hit 240kph. We were actually overtaken by an Audi RS6- I found out later it had been fettled to 700hp! Difference being that did 3 laps and the GT3 was out all day.
Taxi drivers were amazing too. My wife went out in the F80 BMW M3 and that driver had done nearly 1,000 laps in that particular car.

Great to see the old girl is back up and running!

I have to say the sound from the cockpit of the GT3 engine running up to 9000 rpm repeatedly and the thump in the back as the PDK-S engages ("lightening shift" mode - unique to the PDK-S in the GT3) is very very addictive and of all the cars Ive had the pleasure to own this is the most visceral on the track. Ive taken many people for passenger laps in my car and not a single person has got out of that car dissapointed. The new DMS race headers just dial it all up by 20-30%. Better still the car just has a totally different aural character now and feels very much on a leash.

Id be interested in a F80 lap of the Ring. Id imagine it moves around a bit more than the GT3, based on the short drive I had with the car on the street.

What a crazy and cool job. Driving the Ring for a living in heavy metal and being paid for it.

What do you do for adrenaline kicks in your free time when that's your day job? Base jumping stoned? Auto erotic asphyxiation? A bottle of rum and russian roulette?

I can see how that would become addictive! Sounds like that's taken up another notch altogether.

Haha but yes. As for where you go from being paid to drive the Ring I have no idea?! Maybe that's why characters like 'Boosted Boris' are born.

Make that Stroh rum - 80 %! Will tell you a couple stories over a beer sometime.
Try to make a trip to the Rummery rum bar in Brussels, they have more than 200 different rums, some from countries you wouldn't think made rum. Only serve rum, I think - no beer/wine/whisky etc. Take your credit card - not cheap!

Nurburgring Taxi was fantastic. I have the whole lap on my GoPro but no bandwidth to put it to YouTube. Posted some iPhone video on FB but can't post it here so this is a screen grab.

Looks like Pete, John and Steve having a horrible time over there!

Took the 997 for a drive around a few roads I haven't been on before. Bloody awesome time - I forgot how direct the 997's are and am very much appreciating the RSS arms in the front. Not at all too rigid for the road. Much more direct. Very nice drive.

Also, I can't believe how quiet the Sport cup 2's are on the road!! I only have them on the front so far, but I can easily hear the front is silent and the Pirelli's on the rear are still roaring like Bucks with velvet!! Marvellous. Will not be going back to anything else I think for the sort of KM I do.

Only thing is the Mpsc2 do not have the rim protecting bead on them - not that that is a problem for me. I tend not to curb them....

Saw Pel at Taupo track today. Nice black 996.2 gt3. Hope you got it home without any more orange dribbles mate....

Orange dribbles. Now there's a riddle! My 996.1 GtT3 split the coolant overflow tank, that was a common failure with that model GT3. Glad to hear some are getting out on the track even in winter.

I personally believe Michelins product is better than Pirelli though in fairness I havent tried Pirellis latest offerings despite CCS recommending Trofeo R on many occasions claiming Ill lap faster at the track. The MPSC2 are a great dual use tyre but they do cycle out and will wear the shoulder through on the track leaving plenty of meat on the rest of the carcass. Leong will tell you how it goes. The rears will last longer than the fronts.

There are a few things I found in storage might be of interest to 993 owners including brand new set of H&R lowering springs. Brand new bulb set for rear high stop light, brand new 1994 manual, full set of as gauges, factory CD option bracket, new RS allot hood sticky thingy, new BMC conical filter in box, hood badge etc PM me if interest...
