Damn, very sorry to hear that Paul. I hope the repairs don't take too long and you're back on track soon. It must be particularly frustrating that it was caused by something outside your control. I was just thinking the other day too how few mechanical issues we've had on track.

Question still in my mind though is whether we go up to the 540CCA level? Sure it's more money, but over the life of the battery it's not that much. I suppose we also need to work on some engineering for the battery holder. With this in I reckon I can get a full size spare in the frunk.
You don't NEED that much CCA John, but as Walter says it depends on the quiescent current requirements as to how much longer it will last sitting there between uses. Certainly anyone using one of these batts will need a special charger.

I would likely fit a kill switch given my frequent travel. Walter, where do we buy?

Good work John. Interesting colour - looks like Arctic Silver but I didnt realize that was available back then. What is the official paint code/colour - curious? Suits it well IMO. Its 1990 but registered towards the end of 1991. Any idea if it was NZ country code or one of the cars brought in new from an Asian market after the Asian Crisis?

C24 so NZ build. Lola is older, this is middle and Herman is youngest of the 1990 year serial numbers.

I think this will polish up nicely. No doubt there will be a colour/flake mismatch on resprayed panels, but they can stay that way.

Just got back from Brunei. Did a little Porsche spotting over there. Thought I might see more than I did. No high end stuff or classics either

Been offered a NZ group buy on the Shorai 405 of $385 inclusive, plus $80 incl for the trick (Deltran branded in this case) charger they need to keep them healthy.

There has been some discussion about alternator charging current versus that typically usable by these but they seem to work fine in the cars.

Hopefully someone with more time on their hands will be able to source a good LiFePO4 and charger cheaper somewhere else but maybe a quick poll already of who may be interested here for potential group buy numbers?

LiFePO4 battery interest:

John, Moto 1 provided the above group buy offer. Manukau based but does free NZ shipping over $150. He'll remember his car forum group buy pricing offer, though I probably purposely avoided the P word. Mon-Fri, 10-4pm, 09 263 9335.
