Be interested to know what went into your sim build Walter. Half way through doing the same (current hold up is wheel/pedal choice).

Need to get the Turbo out for a run sometime before January!

Still running off the fumes of last weekends driving. As always my GoPro decided not to record at all times, although did get footage of the cloud of fur someone created as we ran towards the coast! Would post but probably not suitable for public consumption.

None of my concern but thought I'd throw it out there in case no one really thought about it.

No speeding to be had, roads are way too tight to get up to the speed limit! Barely made it out of second gear. But do share your concerns, hence not.

How's the car coming along racoguy?

Just something to keep in mind with all the do gooders out there.
No real progress to report really, work is crazy busy........which is odd as I sold my last business to take it more easy!
Porsche is still sitting with half completed exhaust while I push hard to finish my 63 Karmann Ghia and also waiting for my 13 ZL1 Camaro to arrive from the US

A new world. Test fitted Dave's 3D printed valve cover tonight. Next step is to test the valve train depth and CNC a billet version.

Thanks Graeme. Yes, it sure was fun. Beyond the buzz of getting past someone, I had no idea just how far up the field I'd come so it was a surprise to hear I'd placed.

It's a custom bitzer work in progress that per all research should provide $3K+ gaming performance for about 1.5K built. Mostly high spec (or recently high spec) parts, but sourced used to leave more dosh to blow on the real thing.

Rough specs:

An X58 EVGA overclockers board (triple SLI capable, USB 3, SATA3 6Gbps)
6 Core 3GHz Xeon that should overclock on air to 4 Ghz.
12GB of DDR3 ram running at 1866 (faster RAM has the worst bang for buck)
Nvidia GTX980 OC video card
500GB SATA3 (6Gbps) flash drive
DVD writer
All in a Coolermaster case i had to literally hack (with boltcutters and pliers) to take the big video card.

Matched with a 120Hz capable QHD monitor (would never go back to 1920x1080).

On the controls side, I have a Fanatec GT3 wheel but am waiting for the new version of their Clubsport pedals to come out (maybe just came out recently?) so for now am rocking an old Thrustmaster 360 Modena set I had lying around.I'll get the Fanatec clubsport box and handbrake too.

Seat is out of my Porsche (technically true - I chucked it in there once to move the car in and out of the garage when I'd removed the drivers seat to test fit an FIA bucket).

Mouse will likely be a Razer Ouroboros or maybe Naga. Havent thought about a joystick so using an old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

When I get around to it, sound will be via a small home theatre set up I have spare (the motherboard supports 5.1 and 7.1). I also have a bunch of 7200rpm terabyte drives I'll RAID up for extra storage.

Running on Win 8.1 Pro, 'upgradable' to Win 10.

Mainly targetted at R-Factor, and while I'm happy to compromise here and there, controls won't be one of them.

Still in shakedown at the moment. Will wait until it has been run in before seeing how far it overclocks and torturing it with benchmarks like Firestrike to confirm its capabilities.

This won't be my final build. However for my sanity and wallet I want to try some more minor work.

Will do. Dave has done a great job on these. When I do my valve adjust we'll check the clearance required for the valves and then it's off to the CNC milling guys.

Dave has some design ideas as well. We can be Guinea pigs. Also going to look at the lower covers.

John. Its been brewing in the back of my mind.

I have now made all my road videos excluding Italy/France runs in the GT3 and Targa in the 993 (heck we paid $3600 for the ticket we may as well broadcast) PRIVATE.

I don't own the account so I don't exactly know what this means but it will stop those Kiwis with concerns of swamp hen becoming endangered making a mess of the "thrill of driving" for the rest of us :-)

Dave. I really like those covers in Orange. I know is just the resin versions but just saying,

What are the proposed benefits of these covers over say Rennline? I assume cost? Will they be different for 993?
