He told me a funny story a few years ago about that first Bridgestone series. He said it was great, just a bunch of enthusiasts organizing a few track days similar to our RSG. They had a laugh though things were competitive on track alright (Farmer, Williams etc). Mike won that First Series both Class B and Series. The next year he recons it all got serious with a full on arms race by Farmer & Co. He just opted out. I'm guessing Jim felt similar. The spirit changed and it got expensive and time consuming. I feel the same way about RSG. Its at a sweet spot.
Mr Yukimodo (or something) Global GM from Bridgestone was down in NZ for a big meeting when the series finished and he awarded Mike the prize for winning the inaugural series. Mike turned up expecting a ***** Wonker deal (golden ticket for lifetime supply of Bridgestone rubber etc).
All he got was a Bridgestone T shirt that said in Englishnese something like "Bridgestone - Ride her hard using the rubber for the blossoms of your winder will winding road". He gt his photo too with the man and the T short which is published in the 1987 Spiel. Reckons he could have done two fillings in the time he wasted getting through traffic to the meeting (he was a dentist).
Sometimes you find something that's just right in life. The trick is to just enjoy it and live the moment.
Thats what the T shirt should have said IMO....

Congratulations Paul. Well done. Looking forward to chasing you and Dave around some nice back roads without you shaking your fillings out in the GT3. A lovely red cruise. When do you get your fingers on her?

I just need to do a full suspension rebuild before we do any back roads (you know my drill).
Seriously - would be keen for a Sunday Red cruise next weekend to get to know the car.

Has to win the Tardme "Vendor of Amazing Effort of the Year" Award IMO. Honestly. How could you make the advert crappier? Remove the two malfunctioned pictures altogether? Use less than 12 words for the total description. Sh*t why even bother pay the fees - better off putting a hand written Magic Marker "For Sale" sign in the back window aye,,,
