Raglan run...........
About 9 cars did a quick blast out to Raglan via some wonderfully twisty roads...........a great day.
A little bit of sheep mustering in the Porsche is all part of the fun.

Another NZ Rennlister. Love these cars and wound the Turbo out at Hampton Downs Porsche Level 2 driver's ed yesterday. Highly recommended to all - even the Cayenne S managed to stay on its feet for the lane change, very impressive to watch! Having had a 928 it was nice to see a few of those out for a play too, albeit one had dropped down to 4 cylinders on the way to the course.

Yes George, that corner feels weird - dipping down off the end of the long straight like that - and I drive it the worst.
Have only done about 20 track laps in my life but am already getting the bug (all laps were at Hampton Downs and all coned up (2 V8, 2 bike - SV650S first time I'd ridden a road bike at all, 3 Formula Suzuki single seater, and 10-12 in the 996 Turbo (half follow-the-leader and only a couple hot and unimpeded).
That Turn 1 plus the big sweeper are where I feel I could improve the most, then braking later pretty much everywhere bar Turn 2, then fine tuning other lines. After that, maybe sussing out how to keep it on boost as much as possible. My (stock unmodded non-X50) 996T tippy on OEM road tyres still ran just over 3 seconds faster than my 129.5 best single seater lap though. Well happy with that - and credits to Jonny Reid who was riding shotgun!
Porsche make fantastic cars and it was a buzz seeing so many of them out to play with a great bunch of drivers at the Level 2 day. Been looking forward to seeing the Bridgestones Porsches run at Hampton too but probably can't get there this weekend. Best wishes to those running!

Kia ora!!
Another Kiwi here, although still have to wait 5 hrs for my first Porsche.
Picking it up this morning around 10-ish, and can't wait (or sleep) hence sitting in front of the keyboard!
It's an '03 996 C4 Cab, UK/Jap import (long story), swapping my 530 with it. I'll post a proper pics when I've got it in a separate post as not to hijack this one.
Is there any good Porsche parts outfit in NZ? There are a couple that I use in NZ which consistently undercut the dealers by around 50% for parts.
Oh, and I'm in Wellington.

G'day 318touring.
You picked a great car and I hope you've been racking up some distance in the Wellington twisties. The first week or two I had mine I felt like I was making that connection the Na'vi have with their steeds in Avatar, as my senses and reflexes recalibrated.
On getting back into my 750 after a week or two of just driving the 911, it felt like a Range Rover. Still does unfortunately.
Looking at your handle I'm thinking I should maybe change mine to future proof it - or do you still have the 318 too?

On the same day Nirich posted his question about how many NZ Rennlisters there were, someone asked the same question about Aussies on Rennlist in this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist...this-site.html
The NZ thread has had 250 replies, they've only had 22 to date, despite having about five times the population. Cars like the ones most of us have are crazily expensive in Australia so as to favour their Fords and Holdens.
Let's all be thankful New Zealand doesn't have a mass-production motor industry that would see our Government raise protectionist barriers to car imports.
We live in a Porsche paradise!

Haha, that's right, I've been trying to drive the P-car all the time.
Unfortunately I work in Kelburn where I have to park on the street, so no Porsche to drive to work. Again unfortunately this means that the missus has the car for school duty!!
Took it out to the local KFC last night because I needed to 'dry' the brakes after a good wash (tried out my new cabriolet cleaner & protector from detaildepot.co.nz).
No I don't have my touring anymore, but I keep using this handle since I can't be bothered thinking for a new one for the different forums I join. Same handle and password, much easier!
I'm posting up a 'hi new here' in the 996 forum.

Nice pics! Was a good day. Nice roads out to Waihi - Dougal did a great job arranging it.
For an old auto 944 Dougal drives like there is a thermo-nuclear device under his bonnet!
