John youd find this interesting. Surprising outcome. I think they must have just had a bad 965 (reliability wise). Reinforces the fact that the 996T is such awesome value right now. Not sure they make an ideal track package but for everything else including Targa Tour they make a very strong case...

For absolute beginners like me, they just make it easy, and affordable

Hi Graeme. Yeah they look good but further research has indicated the offsets on that model wont work for me. The owner of that car never solved the rear wheel rub at his height on highway so with my height settings on targa tour NZ b roads its probably a no go. I already have to run -2.0 negative camber to clear the 265 RE11s. Probably will need a touch more for the Hankook Z221 265 as the shoulder is squarer. Unfortunately what works without fouling on the road doesnt always work under duress during motorsport as you know...

John that looks like a VERY lightweight 964 track car. Fully stripped out with Recaro pole position seats, 993 Big Red brakes and the lighter weight version of the Techart wheels. The rear ducktail should save 7kg at least from the rear of teh car as it replaces the steel rear lid with motor mechanism. Always good to loose weight at the back....

Phil. I'm happy with mine and you'll see that watercooled outnumbered air cooled at HD last weekend so you are not in the minority. Some of us like old cars as well. I'm the same with furniture. Picking up some incredible bargains on Rose and Heather because its out of fashion. Still beautifully made and will last.

Sorry John. I forgot the wing you currently have. Be nice to get rid of that. I'm sure you'll possibly cover the cost of the new one by selling that one on TM or Rennlist. If its a genuine Techart one it will fetch even more on RL!
Phil. You and me alike. Few want property/business in the islands at the moment especially since the Aussie market (our key feeder market) is having "such a rough time of it". They don't know how good they have it!

Definitely genuine Techart and very good quality. As Peter said, it looks better in person. However I want something less in your face. I probably won't sell it. I want the steel lid if I ever revert to standard although that would mean finding a spoiler and motor. In the end the ducktail is likely cheaper. Steve suggested I just keep items and swap them when I feel like it. I have a slight dent in my bonnet which is why I'm thinking of a fibreglass one.

It has certainly brought forward a few expenses. However I've worked like a dog for so many years that I'm not fussed if I get what I wanted all along. Turning 50 has changed my perspective as have the inevitable connections to people experiencing life's troubles. It's an old cliche but you can't take it with you.
