Thanks guys for the advice.

I flicked an Email to Vivid racing. Prices from a number of US and Euro suppliers are quite varied. Tirerack seem to be the best.

Here are the specs for the Alleggerita's:

Wow, sounds like it was a full on day!

For pads, check out Endless. I've switched from Pagid and find them much better. Have a chat to Mike at Prosport and tell him you're from the Porsche group and I sent you over. He'll pretty much price match Pagid. Also, their brake fluid is used by the factory race team so grab some of that while you're at it. (no affiliation Mike's just a nice young guy and he and his wife do a lot for Motorsport in NZ).

Macca- 100kg is probably closer to 1 second than 2 around HD. I'm around .8 slower with a passenger in my car.

Yeah, leave it in 3rd. It's the worst part about the G50 going around HD. Really bogs down a bit in turn 2!

Damn I wish I had been there.

Have you checked out the new Advan for Porsche rims? They're nice and light plus I think they are that exact fitment you're looking for?

I feel your pain. I wish I was on the track instead of taking photos. Hopefully I will be back out there on the 9th.

BTW: anyone know of an unwanted 964 ducktail rear end sitting out there in a garage? I'm looking at ordering from the US but would far rather prefer to pick up a local one that someone doesn't like and/or need.

Sean. Thanks for the tip on Avan wheels. They seem comparable to the OZ product in weight and price but give another option on style.

Nik. That's a great reference for creating a US address.

John. A Ducktail will look awesome. Good choice!

Looks like MX72 is the compound for road/track use.

I took the Fuchs to HD. We tried them up against Peter's car. I think the jury is out there. These appear to work better with light colour cars and the ducktail balances out the look. Of course you need the Carrera stripe

4 Michelins cost $450 from the UK. OTOH Each Fuch was 10kg packaged and the set freight from Germany was an eye watering $1,100 for a set of four.

If ordering from the UK I'd be tempted to order wheels with fitted tyres as air freight is a mix of weight and volume and they seem to get the best rates.

David. I put in 10kg & 40 x 40 x 30cm for a single wheel in box (they are usually packed in single shippers from my experience). Freight came to 113 nzd. That's around $450 nzd a set. I thought that was pretty reasonable. If you get them shipped one wheel at a time you will unfortunately still not fly under the ridiculously low GST threshold of $400 so unfortunately will gave to pay the $30 "administration" fee for each box plus the GST on top.

Let me know what you decide to do. I still prefer the Oz Alleg HRT to the ADVAN wheel.

John. Good pic. I actually like the wheels against the red car alot. The only downside of the design IMHO is that it hides the brake discs and calipers quite a bit, but this isnt an issue so much on a stock 964 as the calipers are black and the discs are not drilled or particularly large. However if you had the brembo turbo 993 brake upgrade you'd probably want to show of those red calipers and plate sized ventilated discs. Mind you I doubt a 17" wheel will clear the big brake upgrade in any case...I think these will work superb on your white car with ductail.

Chris Harris on his favourite turbo -

John youd find this interesting. Surprising outcome. I think they must have just had a bad 965 (reliability wise). Reinforces the fact that the 996T is such awesome value right now. Not sure they make an ideal track package but for everything else including Targa Tour they make a very strong case...
