Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

Thanks for the response, Macca. We're actually not even sure where we will stay. We spent 3 weeks driving around north/south islands around 3 yrs ago and fell in love with NZ. The people are nice too . I'm self employed and only need a laptop with wifi to operate my business, which in essence allows us to live pretty much anywhere. We will know more in the next few months. I guess I can sell the car here. I do have a strong attachment to the damn thing hence why I was thinking of bringing her along. No plans of selling her off anytime soon.

Macca I'd be on for SITT 2016. Doing our own SI tour a week each side of this coming Easter :-). Mostly different roads this time apart from several nights at Hamner and Arrowtown (for some early morning runs). Doing an overnight cruise on Milford Sound too.

Thats a great position to be in (work wise). It allows you to access some of the best spots in the country to live at any price whilst for modest cost. You should consider Nelson, Queenstown, Wanaka, SI west coast, NI Hawkes Bay, Tauranga, Taupo, KeriKeri, Paihia etc basically so many choices!
If the RS is of sentimental value bring it with you. There will be a 5 years restriction on resale in NZ I believe, but that wont be an issue. We have some great driving roads in NZ as you know, infact I think we are blessed with quite a few very nice roads and some wonderful scenery (and the people are friendly as you say). If you want some advise from another RLer & American currently spending more and more time in NZ then I can put you in touch with Watt who spends time on this board - he has rented an lived in a number of NZ locations and can probably help you with his POV.

Dave, there will always be another time (2018?) and a trip to Europe is worth sacrificing for.

As for Dave, I took photos of his car when getting Herman's harness bar fitted in January 2014....

Mind-you, longer than all of that is Dean's '70T. In August 2013 I asked him whether he would be finished in a year - obviously not.

Well, I'm pretty sure I spent all of xmas hols 2013 thinking about it. Gave the go ahead mid Jan 2014 but it only really got going in around March 2014 so probably about a year I think. How the hell it has held my interest for so long surprise me. I think a bit of pace is needed now. There is a bit of capital tied up in it now so not being able to use it is a bit of a mental hurdle to get over.

Haha that would be the plan, but the green machine belongs to a friend in Switzerland. He actually lives along Stelvio and drives the wheels off that thing.

My first attempt at wet sanding. The finish is rough, in part due to me getting sick of sanding after two hours, and Mitre 10 only having 1200 grit paper. Will pick up some 1500 and 2000 and finish over the weekend. Still a minor rough patch, but mostly sorted. Prefer the matte finish over the plastic shine it had before.
