The 18th of October is a big day for the RSG 2k cup crew. It will be our first set of races. Because the race schedule conflicted with a Playday they have done the following: 9:00 am to 3:00 is Playday 3:00 pm to close is three 20 minute 2k cup races. The formative plan is to practice at Playday and race in the afternoon. It seems like a great chance to get a wider group out to run BB in the Playday, maybe dicing with the VTI-R race cars, then maybe entering BB in the races as well. Thoughts / expressions of interest?

Paul. This looks of interest. I think the expected range is too rich. The general consensus on 911uk.com is 40-50K GPB. Apparently the prices of these have bumped last few months. The resto looks pretty light to me (no real upgrades anyhow) so Id think more like 40K but is a good sign for your plans to bring your 993 back to spruce.

Initial thoughts on wrap quality and process for those interested.
Looks great from about 2-3 metres - its definitely not an alternative to a Graeme W Fraser special! Any closer and you see the joins and imperfections. Light colour shows up slight dings and scrapes I didn't even know she had. Has a nice gloss to it.
In the event of stacking the car I guess it would be a bit more problematic to match compared to paint. Answer - don't stack it!
Looking forward to a dry day Sunday.

I see you have color coordinated your signature already too.

Thanks Doug.
I quite like that, but in my narrow minded opinion I think that early 911's that are that fat at the back end look unbalanced. Superb on a 964 Turbo but the early slender bumpers are at odds with big flares and tall and fat wheels. And the modern seats are out of place but then I'm an opinionated bugger on that front having spent many hours shaping up mine exactly how I want them.
Some of the 964 backdates that carry a bulkier rear bumper for exhaust reasons work better with bigger flares and wheels, like this ps autoart car. It is a hard road to get that balance right but this one always appealed. Just needs real Fuchs in no bigger size than 16" to qualify for my garage space. They could be 17's on there and they still look OK.

Not unless you want to enter the $4k cup.
Nothing a couple of cans of spray paint couldn't sort. I'm still gutted the Monster logo was removed.
Haha no - but glad you noticed the tally-mark element to the logo. Some have remarked that it reminds them of the 'Saw' series...

looking good Pete. Definitely an improvement. No need to worry too much about close view imperfections in a racecar. Fraser now has a peppering of chips on the paint. And the Targa car gets a beating from stones every event. I just do a little bit of respray or renewed signage every 18 months but there is always something needs doing

Good post Doug - the engineering needed to fit a 996 gearbox into the shorter wheel base earlier cars is significant so hats off to the lightspeed guys. I didn't see what that cost would be but I bet its a big $ build. Fantastic shifter though - see how little the stick moved when changing gears,
anyone look at the other cars on the speedhunters page? 360hp Polo R WRC is the ultimate DD. Pushing Mercedes CLS63 AMG out of the fast lane then on to 280kph - what a hoot

"Interestingly, the 991 Supercup has set no new fastest times in 2014: all the current fastest laps for tracks used prior to 2014 were set by earlier 911s."
From the article announcing Bamber's RSR drive at Petite Le Mans.
Now I find this very interesting indeed. I bet everyone would think that the 991 cup would be faster given the improvement in road car performance and from a racecar point of view especially the balance arising from engine placement being more forward?

Graeme the engine is Mezger it sits lower but I do not think further forward as in the production car due to the length of the gearbox. The benefits are generally recognised in track, wheelbase, aero and the sequential transmission.
I know two supercup drivers from last years rounds and both were quicker than the out going cup car (2 seconds Spa 1.5s shorter tracks) but that the platform had meant a lot of learning and development in the first season (2013/14).
Karl is a great fountain of knowledge and seems to place top 25% of the top Supercup drivers in the world last year. Im pretty certain he said pole in the 991 at Spa was 2.05.xx vs 2.06.xx the previous year but I dont know if thats counted.

The 997 Supercup cars had the benefit of three seasons development before the 991 came along last year. I should think now the teams have the software issues sorted and their set up is improving they will be a bit quicker again this year. Its an entirely new chassis/plaform bar the engine which we will know very shortly if it will be going DFI 9A later on this year (probably around Nov).

If some of you older chaps could take a peek in the back of your wardrobes and make sure I have the early 70's colours nailed. Signal orange hue is confirmed, german squareweve tan carpet and Tasman Wellington Whisky leather for seats and side panels.
