Macca,

That's a tome, not a post.

I recall Neil's big bill including brakes. It's all relative.

You're are correct re newer technology. Herman is entering semi retirement. 2015 is hopefully the racing year.

Great write up Macca and good to have you back on here. I appreciate your insights and think you have made the correct decision. I have some figures for my car and the biggest expense is the brakes , tyres and petrol. Disks and pads wear out fast, I am on my third set of front disks and they ain't cheap, I suppose that comes with the speed.
I enjoyed the GT3 convoy. Won't forget it in a hurry.
Hope to see you soon.
Off to Puke tomorrow with Kevin and the 944. She is looking perfect and I am excited and nervous to test her out and to see how long it takes me to get to grips with a left hand drive race car. Life should always be a challenge. Cheers all Neil

Me too. But can it be called a 964 with a lightly fettled 993 variorum engine and 6 speed G50 gearbox? Maybe we call it a 994!!

Thanks Neil. You are right though. Speed is the delta. Once you push anything quickly it wears fast. The 993 will operate a long time circulating 1.20s at HD with moderate cost I'm sure. push it to 1.16s every outing maintenance/consumerables will almost double medium term...
The GT3 is no different.
Good luck on the weekend with the lefty. Won't take you long to figure it out. We found it daunting for the first few weeks over here but it becomes natural very quickly...

Good to have a beer and chat last night john. Great 2 KCup footage showing how close and competitive it is. We may well be pleased we have three cars to enter. Should be a blast.

Attachment 872765 I hope I can keep her so clean and shiny but doubt it very much.

Looking great Neil. If I don't get too caught up at HD tomorrow I'll stop by on the way back in BB and see how you are running.

Graeme, this is the Go Jack in action. It's liberated enough space in the garage to store three cars and work on one of them. Only problem may be that the 996TT is longer than the Turbo 3.6.

Jake - as for the comments, maybe he was worried I'd taken him for a hitman or something.

Macca - great write up of the NITT experience and I'm sure your reflections on the 991 vs 964 will assist others. I strangely enjoyed the rain in Taupo though it sure was intense at times - a bit like walking a tightrope. Nothing like having the rear try to step out at 200 odd kph as a reminder not to go all out through those mid main-straight puddles when it really bucketed down though.

JohnM - just catching up on the thread so will drop the BB dosh in to the account over the weekend. Also happy to stick some in for the 2Kcuppers if you like - drop me a text maybe.

Neil - that has got to be one of the best looking 944s I've ever seen pictured. Bet you can't wait to get her out there.

John, thx for bringing go jack to my attention - think I will go get 2 2moro. Man that 2k is full on. tyres and pads are not going to last long driving like that for sure. Those front tyres will be chopped out in no time with all that understeer. Study that Dougie

Neil, great car, great colour, will enjoy it I bet.

Macca, Nobody posts like Macca - we haven't got the attention span haha. Ur lines aren't too bad. Thing is manfield is my home track so except for the racing boys I have probably done more laps there than any of you AKL lads. Now that Fraser is painted a Porsche colour its bound to be faster. Then when it gets an RSG sticker that will be good for another half second!!

I had such fun on SITT that when I started doing maintenance and tidy up on it I got a bit carried away and now it feels almost like a new car so that's great.

the car was 80K ex Sydney so likely over 100K landed, GST and complied. There was also something off with that car - from the re upholstered seats to the painted cage - too many storied to say 15-20K on over a NZ new example with great history IMO...

John after watching that video Im 100% with Chris B. Youd be mad to run a car in the 2K cup without a cage IMO. They are still pulling 165kmph down the straight and always on the edge. The 911 is built strong out of the box - the Integra not so much. The driver of that car looked proficient. It looks like fun although the grid looks fairly busy. Looking forward to your in car telemetrics.
