Graeme - we look to you for the sane approach to this madness. You could always throw caution to the wind and use the longhood as a DD? I fear any substantively sorted 964 is $50,000 +. Macca madness level starts at $100,000.

I have texted Terry Riding to see if 26/7 at HD works for licence tests. He may not reply before my plane leaves. Not sure if there is roaming at my destination.

Doug, you know where the Necksgen is if you need it. Dave is picking up the AIM Solo during the week.

To all running in BB. I'll post the times etc on the evening of the 19th and update the leaderboard. Rule number one is no whingeing!

Paul, you can give Dave your AIM at the same time if you want to know where you are picking up time and where there may be more.

Agree. Paul already has almost 100k in his 993 and mainly he has just sorted the suspension and handling and some wheels. He definately has benefited tho by 2-3s a lap at HD.

John. Graeme is already part of this madness. His longhood was newish GT3 money I am guessing already, to import and register ( and a sound investment at that) so he's already on the reservation so to speak....to use it as a daily would be foley IMO

. A daily needs decent ride, working HVACs and good ICE. Your commute is probably 5km flat so you could get away with Herman but most have longer commutes with hill traffic and bridges and could not. The ideal DD in these situations I suspect is not an old 911.

Graeme you aren't wrong re the 964 modification. These lend themselves better to cosmetic upgrade than the 993 and plenty out there have played with them. If I bought one even knowing what I do today and how to buy the parts well etc and the lower 964 donor prices I couldn't see less thank $120-140k in one until it was looking and handling how I wanted it (basically pure 964 RS relics spec with correct parts). Others like John are still under 100k. Dougs the smartest with little spend beyond the base car. I'm not a patient guy like Others and I have a lot I want to do before I die so I'd probably spend the money to accelerate my enjoyment and bag me those 1.17 964 lap times sooner rather than later lol! Everyone has a different opinion of course...p

What does everyone think about keeping the AIM out of sight in the glovebox during the run, no looking til done. No PredT taking the fun out of it!

Sounds fine to me. Prestigio won't allow it to be on and visible in the car so I mostly have my screen off at the track and just download or look at after. I suspect the others are the same so nothing lost there...

Last post b4 I take off. We all had the AIM visible. Up to you all. Probably easier to get a good time with it visible. Plus remember it needs to see satellite!

Sellers remorse; I want my 964 back. All is forgiven. Always thought they were not quite fully resolved in narrow body form with the back end looking a bit pinched and the front bumpers visually taking over. The turbo not so; the smoothed bumpers work well with the pumped guards. It's pretty hard work finding the perfect looking Porsche. I should have just bought a set of black centred Fuchs then I would have loved her more. (Superficial B'stard).
If I can't ever find a good 964 in the future, I can always get a 964 body kit for the 911T, aye?

Mate you must be an old hand at this by now given the cars through your hands and the average length of tenure lol! All will be forgotten when the new car rolls out of Stevens shed!

I think I'm at $85K off the top of my head (I stopped adding up invoices years ago...........)

I will be at $100K with a new paint job. And maybe $105K if James ever sells me his hard back seats....???

I think John will be at a hundie on his 964 once he paints it too.

Or at 40% of Macca's total send.

But any older Pcar that I brought I would drop in $10-20K as I like my cars to be club sport spec (i.e. stiffer and lower than stock).

I just can't stand a Pcar that is running on old tyres, old suspension, poor brakes and bushings and doesn't handle properly. Unless you are Doug, Craig or Gary and buy an RSG car already done, I will always be in for an instant $15-20K suspension rebuild.

Once you own a properly 'dialed in' car - you can never go back.

Will be interesting to see how Dave drives The Orange at the track - we know he can 'peddle' now in BB.
