Glad to hear your thinking of me, but I'm not sure what I have to do with this. I posted a response a FB user received FROM GARMIN about this feature. Many folks here are not on FB and the photo was germane to the discussion at hand. I have no idea what Garmin tells you or your unit does, but Garmin is telling users what they are telling them. If their support people are uniformed, I can't do anything about it. Don't shoot the messenger.
Garmin, like other multi billion dollar multi-national corporations, is a BIG company, unlike most of the cottage industries that populate this technology sector. Clearly, that support response didn’t come from the garminpitcrew@garmin.com and if they had inquired internally, they would have been able to supply the proper information, as I have.
The purpose of your post is to reinforce and promulgate fear, uncertainty and doubt.

You think that's harsh criticism? LOL, not even close! They're missing a crucial piece of what makes the DE experience what it is, which is the ability to share our hobby with our friends, considering their targeted market is the DE crowd, this is an important thing to have. This is a very expensive piece of equipment and releasing it without this feature was a monumental error. Since the hardware can support it, the fact that they haven't released a software update to add it over this off season just doubles down on that initial error. Fixing this should be priority #1 for them and ASAP.
I'm annoyed to hear that what I thought was coming in the very near future apparently isn't and isn't even in the works, which blows.

Folks gettin' uppity in here. Bottom line: This is an incredibly advanced and powerful tool for a fraction of the cost and hassle of anything comparable. Garmin WILL eventually release export / overlay capability. They know it's a desired feature. They're a massive multinational company. They're not sitting in ExCo board meetings fretting about f*cking forum gripes, guys. Relax and enjoy the thing for what it can do NOW, and sooner or later, it will do the other things you want as well.

I ordered my Catalyst last year and hoped to have it for my last DE of the season. It arrived a week after that DE, so I've been sitting on it all through the off-season and excited about trying it out as soon as I can.
And now my first DE has been canceled because of COVID.
Stupid plague.
