Isudar Carplay for PCM 3.1
#1396
I tried to install the new board this weekend. I initially had it working and got carplay connected without all the porsche antenna connected but once I’d put them back and and started to slide it back into the hole the screen went off and I couldn’t get it back. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting every cable multiple times and still no luck. The PCM it’s self was working as the jukebox started playing on boot up (I just couldn’t change volume or track/source as the controls didn’t work either). Was starting to think I’d wrecked my PCM (or at the very least the ribbon cables) but after removing the carplay board and putting it back to stock thankfully my screen came back and everything seems to work as it should. I’m very disappointed that the firmware didn’t work so I think I’m going to send it back and get a refund. I really can’t be bothered taking it out and reinstalling again and I feel like I’m pushing my luck with it a bit - my stock ribbon cables don’t look as fresh as they once did. I’ll just wait for Porsche to finally get around to releasing a replacement for PCM 3.1 and invest in a better phone mount in the meantime.

I wonder if the connections on the Isudar harness itself were the problem here?
Mind you, I can well understand why you don't want to try again. There's a limit for everything! Very frustrating that you got so close.

So close! If it was working with the PCM out and only stopped when you pushed the PCM back into its cage, that implies some problem with the external wiring, rather than inside the PCM. It’s hard to see how internal wiring would be displaced in these circs and you must have had it all connected well for Carplay to fire up.

Yeah, I am thinking it must have been something wrong in the isudar harness - maybe the power cable to the isudar board or something as I too didn’t think sliding the PCM back in would knock the internal ribbon cables. As this is my second board and the issue hasn’t been fixed with the firmware as per @1977GTS I think now is the time to bow out. I might at some point pay one of the specialists to install the NM Automotive board or something because at least then you have propert support and it’s proved to work with UK cars.

The board still resetting whilst turning and gentle or hard acceleration (same as other uk users). I’m sure it’s a firmware fix to sort it, which I’m going to persist with.

@porty981 hey mate sounds like a close call, and this is now starting to become my worry. Sorry it didn’t work out. As you say Zed I do wonder if it’s the looms, but having replaced two (and even shaking the wires frantically I can’t replicate the problem). So very bizarre. I would say though the new update the unit is fast and the phone to CarPlay connection is fabulous. When leaving and re entering the car, plus it reboots much faster.

Everything is the version screen for yours is the same as mine except of course the new M: firmware version. 230703V1

This sounds very positive and enticing! I am s surprised that iSudar is not keen to have a user update the firmware when it is the same hardware level?

@porty981 - just had this from Kimi. This isn't you is it?
Hello, we currently suspect that the excessive configuration of the vehicle is causing unstable current and resulting in black screen restarts after installing the panel.
This may require replacing the power cable with a filtered one, and even upgrading might not resolve this issue.
I have already sent this power cable to another customer in the UK, and I am waiting for his feedback If the issue has been resolved, then we will send you a new power cable promptly.

Do other wireless Android Auto users find that their Isudar takes 40 seconds from ignition on to AA screen?

This is intriguing me (the bolded text). Although I am experiencing no problems at all with my Isudar board (installed in 970.2 Panamera), the system does take about 40 seconds from ignition on until Android Auto appears on the screen. I can happily live with this, but am wondering why many users report much faster connection. Is it a function of AA as opposed to Carplay maybe? Whether it is from a 'cold start' or after restarting after a 5 minute break (for fuel for example), it takes the same 40 seconds or so to boot to the AA screen. This is with a wireless connection via a Samsung Galaxy S20+.

That is good to know. Some Carplay users report what sounds like almost instantaneous boot-up, so I wonder if their Apple phones are doing it differently somehow. As I said, it's not a problem for me - usually by the time I have settled in, put my belt on and reversed out of my drive, AA is there ready and waiting anyway.
On the Jouyauto I installed for a friend, the boot-up is more or less immediate unless the car has been unused for about 24 hours. I wonder if this is anything to do with Joyeauto using an external box? TBH, I'd rather wait 40 seconds than use an external box as I believe the Isudar approach is more elegant. I'd still like to understand why so many Isudar users are experiencing these problems, and what the difference is between their cars and mine. I guess there are so many potential config combinations that it's difficult to be sure. The main difference between my car and some of the others is that I don't have Sport Plus, although I have pretty much everything else they have. Maybe that's what it is - Sport Plus adds extra demands to the system and the Isudar can't cope. I hope Isudar get to the bottom of it,

Sorry BTW - I wasn't intending to rub it in. I totally get it that the guys experiencing major issues would be more than happy to have a fully working system that takes 40 seconds to boot! I was just wondering if this was 'normal' behaviour and if/why it is different between Carplay and AA.

Glad yours is working well.

Well, mine is back up to its old tricks, Kimi gave me a FW upgrade which was to cure thie following: ( M230221V1)
If a door gets opened on the Macan the BT on the Isudar comes alive and automatically connects to my phone, it continues to stay connected for hours even when the Macan was never started!
I can even turn off BT on the phone (Pixel 7Pro) and somehow Isudar turns it back on and connects in! No other BT device I have works this way, additionally it will even take over the WiFi connection on the phone from my home wireless hotspot!?
Anybody else experience this?
