They have been known to have bad exhaust valves. Just drive it while under warranty, and when the warranty expires get the valves and heads re-worked and get another few extra HP while you are at it. The valve job runs about $2500.

Have witnessed many Z06's go boom at Mosport. Turn 4 is notorious for their demise. Sustained lateral g load in excess of 1.0g causes oil starvation, then boom. Mostly 2006-2010. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next iteration.

my buddy just got his 2013 z06 at near 20k off... 1500 miles on the car.. track day... kaboom... engine blew up. GM is getting a new one for him. What would Porsche do?

Porsche will ask you to get our your check book. What does a crate motor cost for a GT3?
