It is a track day turd. In several aspects actually. Gears 5, 6, 7, and 8 are all overdrive gears. It's got the worst 650hp/650tq out there. It's closer to 500/500.

American automakers, and GM are fantastic at producing empty numbers and empty stats. It's prevalent in all their cars and trucks. They know how to market to unsuspecting customers. Especially ones overflowing with testosterone.

Comparing this body design to those of similar mid-engine Ferraris, the latter have purposeful, but much more flowing designs, and there's really no comparison. The C7 vette shape was actually smoother and more flowing. I'll need to see one in person before making final judgment but I think they've alienated their core demographic with this new car, which isn't how you expand on a successful history. If they wanted to do this design they should have built it along with the current front engine platform and called it a new model with a different name than a corvette.

Seinfeld in the latest comedians in cars (Eddie Murphy) takes out his Carrera GT and speaks about how the lines of a car have to make sense. I agree with that sentiment but I don't see it in the C-GT or the new Vette.

I do see it in 928s and 911s.

The biggest question in my mind will be the transmission. Will it be as responsive and quick as a PDK? If it's laggy, it's gonna kill the experience. And hopefully there will eventually be a manual option too

Not a Vette guy, but if I had $70K to blow on a car without the wife killing me, this would top the list....

I will take a white white or silver one please.

I'm gonna dump my 996, maybe the Tahoe too, and get the Vette. But I'll wait till the hotrod version hits the market. Got plenty of time.

There is a fairly short video where Jay Leno is shown the car and they talk about it having more room. Remember that a 991, amongst others, was used as a benchmark, and one of the mules actually had a PDK.

I just saw one in the dealership in blue. It's not too different from the pics in person. NSX, Ferrari Modena, Camaro blended into one. Three different seat options and look pretty supportive. There were a ton of new C7's on the lot and discounted heavily from $7500 to $20000, off for a $167,000 ZR1... I had no idea these cars were so expensive!!

In an interview the Engineers said that because of the proximity to the front axle there's no room in the foot well for three normal size pedals.

I read something similar. Also I heard the take rate for manual was quite low with the C7, much lower than 991.2 GT3s for example, and Corvette figures that the vast majority of their customers will accept the DCT which is so much better than a slushbox.

Still it would be nice if they offered a manual option. Maybe with a refresh or next all new C9, if the there is enough complaining like the 991.1 GT3 situation.
