I have always liked the Corvette, they just never made a complete product IMO. I built a C5 into a 1000 hp lemon. Then the C6 came out and were too many lemons (exploding motors) for me to be comfy with. The C7 and its girth, heating issues and excessive angles design were a no go as well.

If this C8 is reliable and handles a track day well I'm in for a wide body grandsport or Z06 for light recreational track duty. I dont like the tail lights (or the rear end in genera). How does GM approve some of these designs? The trucks look mostly horrible and the new camaro..... vomit....

Every dealer that advertises on the Midengine Corvette Forum has clearly stated that they are selling the new C8 for MSRP. These are the highest volume dealers in the country. One does not need to pay more!

All explained in the thread I just linked in my previous post. Base C8 is MUCH (~300lb) heavier than C7.

Here is the basic comparison of several popular marques! The true statistics are not that different. The weight difference between the C7 and the C8 is minimal: 60 lbs.

I am intrigued and happy to see this car hit the sports market. More options may put an end to Porsche dealers ADM games

Now the wait begins. When does Chris Harris get his hands on one?

I just explained to you that the 68lb difference you keep quoting is the diff between C7 CURB weight and C8 DRY weight. Not sure if you're thick or trolling.

The guy has been weird. Keeps quoting 68lb C8-C7 weight diff even though I explained to him that that's the diff between quoted C8 DRY weight and C7 CURB weight, so apples to oranges. Plus no source/link for that table.

Apologies! My mistake, however, your impertinence is a bit of an off. You could have simply left off the last sentence. Why the aggression?

That table isn't even close, most of those cars are firmly in the 2.x second range 0-60.

And just looking at that table the C8 is going to post 1/4 mile times that are in the mid 11s which is fast, but not in the league of those cars mentioned. This iteration doesn't have enough HP to post 10s....probably the Z06 and up will.

You just repeated the same thing in response to my explanation of why that wasn't so. Yes, I could have left off the last sentence. No aggression intended. Bygones...

I think it is fair to say that the base Corvette won't challenge the top tier super cars, but the z06 and zr1 definitely will. Still a great showing for a base model especially at this price point. And spec'd up right it looks way better than the best looking C7 Z06/Zr1 imo. I think there is also the nationalistic pride factor of knowing that an American company pulled something like this off. I feel like I want to give them my money at this point.

I just hope the reviews are good!
