I'm going to wait until the C8 has been out for a couple of years - I suspect that there will be significant teething problems with the new platform. Hopefully by then there will be a Z06 version as well.

Not sure what a Chevy dealership experience will be (low expectations) but then again going to my P-car dealer is not always a hassle free experience.
Set your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. When I owned my C5, I ended up having the GMC dealership perform the service on the car.

Wow this is going to look badass as a Z06/gs. I wonder if this will bring down prices of other cars as well. The 992 turbo is creeping on 200k msrp.

The sound clips I’ve heard of the C8 sound like an old school muscle car combined with Ferrari growl. Must at least look into it.
And the aftermarket will surely have a number of options for cat-back exhaust.

I cannot justify a 992 C2S @ $135k or any other 911 at that price point or below once this C8 was revealed. Especially since I am looking to take a car to the track and beat the p*** out of it.

My biggest fear isn't overheating, it is dealing with Chevy service department. What loaner are they going to give a C8 owner? A Chevy Equinox?

You get what you pay for. Knowing this, I put down my deposit yesterday. I wish I was wealthy enough to not care about the $100k delta between this and a legitimate Porsche GT car.

The Z51 C8 track car will probably cost ~85K. For the 50K you save over a 992 C2S you can rent a lot of high end loaners from a rental car agencies

Porsche had pushed the MSRP ceiling too much IMO. Keep raising prices and giving you less for it while becoming watered down. They've ridden the economic boom, but will bite them in the *** sooner than later. The competitors are catching up in all categories with better values.

Nothing yet, but unofficially being told its 5K. Order guide to be released 7/24 (link) and pricing is supposed to be released 8/15 for a Q1 delivery time

This is a bargain even considering the 718 GT4. ~300lb heavier, but 80 more hp and a non-compromised rear suspension. I can see this being almost as quick as a 991.1 GT3 on track.

As far as reliability goes, I haven’t heard of any real issues with LT1 C7 corvettes? Obviously the Z06 has known cooling issues, but seems like the base and GS are pretty reliable. Repair costs are surely to be lower than bore scoring on a 911 or if a PDK fails.
It’s going to smoke a 991.1 GT3 on the track and drag strip
it will match if not beat a 991.2 S on the drag strip and destroy it on the track.

speaking of which gasp a 991.2S with the sport package and sport chrono is faster than a GT3 991.1 on some tracks.
motortrend recorded a faster Tim for instance at willow springs
If I were Porsche I would be nervous about 992 sales...

the 992 is not really much better than 991.2
these are the facts if it as good as the outgoing grandsport and has more horsepower

I should have mentioned a third "interest" category: I drive a lot more miles in rental cars than my own. So when these things start showing up as the fancy car upgrades, I totally intend to pick one up and see how it feels.

It’ll beat the 718 GT4 manual version 0-60, and beat the PDK version 0-60 MPH by a lesser margin.

The Vette weighs 3366 lbs dry, so it probably weights around 3550-3600 wet (the way Porsche measures it). That’s 400+ lbs heavier than the GT4, or about 13%+ heavier than the GT4. That negates most of the horsepower advantage, and more so given historically German horses have been inexplicably stronger than American ones

I’d expect the PDK 718 GT4 to be just as quick or quicker than the Vette in longer acceleration runs like a 1/4 mile or accelerating through straights on track.

Will the Vette chassis be as agile, balanced, and well sorted as the GT4? I doubt that too.

The new Vette is great value for the money, but saying it’ll run circles around the GT4 is a stretch. It’s just geared for good 0-60 times.
