To what car could they have shared a platform with? Certainly not a front engine model! This car's frame is super stiff too! The look of it is pure Corvette. If anything the NSX looks like it even though it came out earlier.

My C8 wants are growing hour by hour from seeing all the different setups/color combos.. I'm sorry. The package is way too good when a 911 is double the price.. Everything else is double/triple the price on 911's too from what I learned. Detail? Double price. Tint? Double price.. Exhaust/gofast mods? Double price and so on...

Goodbye soon 991.2 GTS (mine would whoop the C8 in a race).. Hello 2020 Toyota Tundra and 2020 Corvette C8.. I'm going to buy both of those for the price of my .2 GTS and mods I'm parting out on.

Consider the CF side skirts and lip since you're going with the larger spoiler.

Granted the article below is a bit over 5 years old but feel the LS based motors are even better now. Have fun with the new Vette MK T

Ok - I have to say what you have been told is bunkum . I own a 720s which is lighter more powerful, with excellent aero and one of the best all round suspension set ups in a modern sports car. It's a fantastic car and yet to out do the GT2 RS would require some changes that would alter the character of the car. In terms of track I much prefer my 991II GT3 RS.

As a general comment, the comments here are interesting given there is quite a lot of choice in the mid-engined space. Alfa 4c, Alpine, various Lotus, Cayman / Spyder, various Mclaren, various Ferrari, various Lamborghini. So there is something at every price point.

What the C8 does is provide a relatively cheap mid-engined sports car with a decent amount of horses. It may be a game changer for GM/Corvette - but that's where it ends.

There will be plenty of buyers for this car car in the US for sure - however that will be driven by price point or those that want a big HP mid engined car and don't want to pay Mclaren prices.

I would definitely give one a go but would likely take a PDK equipped Cayman in preference. Its not all about HP and 1/4 mile times - that's why companies like Lotus, Caterham, Mclaren and Porsche exist. In my view a large proportion of buyers of these cars what more than fast HP - they want an experience in the round and are generally happy to pay for it.

Nontheless - it's great that GM have done this - I do think it looks great (but definitely see NSX to) and really look forward to seeing how it goes in independent reviews.
