Thanks for that link. I thought it was a great and honest review discussing the high points and not so high points. Seemed like with TC off that the understeer from the MT review wasn't a major problem. Also great to hear that he didn't see any cooling issues as that was one of my original concerns when I thought about the previous Corvette cooling issues and this now being a mid-engine car with restricted airflow back to the engine area and less front area for radiators. The fact that GM made the ride very good is going to be a huge plus to the traditional Corvette buyer that tends to be older and less spry than the owners of some of the other marques. Also great to hear that the chassis capability exceeds the engine capability - that means the Z06 and ZR1 versions will likely be more balanced in that regard and you won't end up with an awesome powerplant that exceeds the capability of the chassis and can't take advantage of it. No one expected a German car quality interior and sounds like that expectation was correct, but you can't have everything be top of the scale and still have the price at $60-$85 grand.

There is no reason to make the base model overly track focused when you have the GS, Z06 and ZR1 still to go.

the more I look at it, the more I think they did the right combo here for the broader buying market. Most street people want the off the line rush, 1/4 mile speeds is plenty and they can still feel fast with understeer being the safety cushion. The smooth ride quality and very quiet cruising is a huge bonus for those looking for an all arounder.

I think they will sell a ton of these actually.

The Matt Farah video was more of what I was expecting. It seems like with the traction and stability turned off all the understeer turns in to progressive slides. NICE. That was a great review of the car. It seems like Chevy created a great GT car for the masses knowing they will have more sporting and track focused variants to come. I am going to wait for Z06/GS variants, and maybe modify my 911 to keep me busy while I wait.

And yes the Z51 has adjustments available. From Car and Driver:

"Both had additional wheel camber dialed in as recommended in their owner's manuals for track use."

Meh, all of these manufacturers are just systems integrators nowadays. Take a look at Porsche's list of suppliers sometime. Geographically, it's even more far-flung than GM's.

Drive what turns you on, and don't get hung up on brand names. You'll see a lot of common hardware under the hood, and before long they'll all be pretty much the same.

It sounds like that thing is squealing itself apart and panel gaps get wider, suspension gets looser and interior panels get rattlier. Lol.
Still a bargain for the price...

my point exactly that a car should be judged on its own merit not who makes it. btw, i dont think even a bugatti owner would look down on ferrari

and for the record my gt3 cup holders would never stay closed after a track day. that stiff chassis wasnt so stiff after all. and i had windshield crack too. porsche has plenty of chassis flex on track too.

C8 not aging well. Already looks old. Too many angles and creases. No bueno. KISS.
C9 will be huge design improvement by just deleting the creases and making them softer/rounder.
