c7 was severely traction compromised in the high power versions. thats why porsche could be equally fast with 200 less hp. i hope the c8 fixes traction problems
The biggest deciding factor for me when I was considering both the C8 and 911 besides the fact I could actually test drive the 911. Is the fact there will be 50,000 Corvettes sold in the US in the first year alone.. And the 911 normally gets close to the 10,000 mark per year in the US. It’ll take 5 years just to see as many 911’s on the road to match the c8 in the first year. I don’t want something everyone else has. Not to mention I prefer the classy look and refined power of the 911 over the C8. Though I could change my mind if I could actually test drive a c8 lol
Ya, I will wait for Motor Trend before they milk me out of a grand

Are you saying the Z51 will come in under $61K now?
It was $64K for the 1LT Z51 with nothing added.
I haven't heard anyone walking away for less than $70K'ish for a Z51 order.
Meh, who cares.
This nonsense has been going on for way too long.
Let an independent 3rd party drive the damn car and write an evaluation and review already!
Everything else has already been said.
I hear you man, thought my 70s Vega was going to be my pride and joy with it's handmade Cosworth assembled engine, but sadly my first $1200 used car investment only netted a plane aluminum 140 Cubes.
But hey, I had grabbed Motor Trends's Car of the Year, Car and Driver's Best Economy Sedan and finally for the triple crown of Third Party Reviews', Road and Tracks' Editor, who stated it was the, "Best handling car ever built in the United States". They're not going to burn me for an extra grand and not deliver. Production time was under 40 seconds per unit and I had one of DeLorean's finest. Times change, or maybe they don't, I did part with the Vega for and scored a sweet used Granada with a 351

Isn't there a thread of haters you can circle jerk with?
Fake News is the cry of the denier, whiner and hater. Maybe those too ignorant to seek out if it might be true or scared that it could be true? https://youtu.be/D5DKW1IkuzI
There are others....
You believe everything you read and see online or strictly bench race? Sorry bro, I keep it real with my comments. Pure experience.
Your video proves nothing but someone at the track with sticky tires and sticky track prep with full intention of trying to go for best numbers.

Just a WAG but I wouldn't be surprised that for every person that prefers the "classy" look of the 911, there is at least one other, maybe more, who think it looks dated or worse yet, hideous. BTW what does "refined power" mean. Could that be the power produced by a small turbocharged engine, as opposed to power produced by a larger NA engine? In my case I prefer a NA engine over a turbo engine, and that's doubly true if the turbo engine is a 4 cyl.

And based on sales you are 100% correct and far more like the looks of the corvette over the 911 or they would sell X multiples of the 911.

Well without knowing the characteristics of the new mid engine C8. The refined power feels more compact, especially with launch control. I tested a 19 z06 and you can feel the raw power. It’s definitely a different feeling, but I factor in more than just straight line speed. And like I said. That could change with a test drive of the c8.. I don’t know how well it’s going to handle compared to the 911.. as far as looks. The c8 does have a Lambo/Ferrari look to it, a more exotic take. The 911 has progressive refreshed looks over time. And for the price point and the fact it has stayed so consistent in styling all of these years says a lot. The corvette has had drastic looking evolutions over the years. This is just IMO. I had a deposit down on both the c8 and 911. And I just prefer the 911.

Over the decades I've owned many 911 iterations, but the one I liked the best was the 993. The current 992 has just gotten too large for my tastes. Porsches have always been expensive, but they are now getting into the ridiculous area. I currently own two Porsches, and I intend to keep them for a long time. No way that I'll pay $120K+ for a moderately equipped 992. If I ever buy another sports car it will likely be a C8.

The c8 is much larger than the 911. That’s a given. But I do agree the prices are getting out of hand. Though I appreciate the fact a lot of people won’t want to pay the price.. hopefully that keeps the numbers down. You’ll see 50,000 c8 vettes on the road this year.
We had a gorgeous Black/Black GT3RS at the farm last weekend. The wing really exaggerates the scale of the car.
" Driving an early 911 is an experience on it’s own:
It’s 1000 kilos. Today we’re driving 1,600 and the 500 horsepower that we use today feel different to the 130 we drove at that time because the extra weight, the 60% more weight is not really compensated by the extra horsepower because there is no compensation for extra weight. There I nothing better than saving weight in an automobile."
This is what happened to myself. C8 really impressed me and I want a Z version but that's a couple years out. The biggest thing it highlighted to me was the value you get.
I was originally going to get a very well spec'd 718 Spyder (been on the list for three years now) . In order to do this jump I was going to get rid of my Ferrari to free up some money. Then when the C8 came out I realized I could add one of these to my line up for a marginal amount of money over the 718. This on top of the **** gearing and same torque that it retained from the 981 (owned one for two years and got board). I decided to try out the vett. With no more manuals being produced I started searching for a new Z06. Needless to say I am picking up my new Z today really excited never owned a vett before.
You are misinformed regarding torque on the 718 Spyder. The new model has increased torque over the last gen, making the high gearing less of an issue.
Personally, I ordered a 718 Spyder. I think owning a 1st gen American car is a nightmare. You’ll really have to love the car to put up with all the inevitable issues.
