^^Well said @StudGarden . Clearly, everybody has their opinion and bias here. I'm in the camp that there is no perfect car or manufacturer. My 2018 911, clearly not a pre-prod or first year, had broken and misaligned trim sitting on the showroom floor with no test drives. Since I've owned the car it has had a few creaks and rattles where it clearly shouldn't. I walk in the garage right now and point to misaligned buttons & trim, stitching, and plastic switchgear that feels like it was sourced from Fisher-Price. Some of the body panels are ever so slightly out of alignment. All in a car that stickered about TWICE what a C8 does. All of these bits are nit picky and I love the car. I've also owned several Corvettes and know first-hand the tremendous value they deliver, particularly the C7.

True zero defect mass manufacturing is impossible (or impossibly expensive). 5 nines quality takes great effort, intention, and cost. If you want the 6th 9, be prepared to wait and pay. Look at the C8 from the other perspective - take advantage of the economies of scale that GM brings and enjoy the performance in your <$100k car. Or, you can look down your nose at it, and look away from the defects in your [insert favorite brand]!

They used to let you turn the wrenches on your own Corvette's engine for an extra few grand.

I would probably easily pay an extra $50K to be allowed to follow my car down the line, yelling at the workers like I was Elon Musk or Stanley Kubrick or Leona Helmsley. That would pretty much rock.

Several decades ago, I was at an Indy and his hourly rates were posted on a wall. The Indy base rate was $50/hour, $60/hour if you watched, $70/hour if you offered advice, and $100/hour if you helped.

R&T PCOTY preview video of the C8 at Thunderhill.

Seems to handle really well for the few laps that are on the video

FINALLY. A real 3rd party reviewer gets to drive the car on the Track.. but wait... still can't talk about it!!!
A-Freakin-Mazing... Wow.

I have to disagree.
  1. In the recording from inside the car.. "sounds" like Geese farts on a muggy day.
  2. It didn't look like he was going all that fast. N' that guy can drive freakin' fast.
  3. There was plenty of tire squealing going on and steering corrections being made. Odd in the face of #2.
  4. He didn't look pleased with the experience AT ALL.

Very different than this video where he's driving a Cayman GT4.

He was allowed to talk about those cars because the embargo was lifted so of course he is more animated. He can't tell you anything about the C8, not even if he likes it. Guess we have to wait until 10/16 to hear his real thoughts.

If you want a true apples to apples comparison, here is a video he did for "just the noise" on the new Supra. He did mess up and mumble something about balance at one point, but otherwise nothing, and that is on a much more "busy" track (though if you get a chance to drive it, its a lot of fun and he didn't even get to do the carousel)

But the video does let you listen to the LT2 V8 for a few minutes, which should be worth your time:

If the C8 Z06 looks like this; (minus massive rear wing and diffuser of course), it’s going to sell like hot cakes:
