$60,000 new Corvette. That's funny right there. Unicorn.

You can order it direct from factory at that price if you can't find one on a lot.

Yes, it is supped to be the Blackwing with a different turbo set up. But there will be aftermarket SC installs with a base, I'm sure.

Yup, a base car can be bought at $60K, no dealerdouchery.

Quite an eye opener comparing my experience calling a top vette dealer about the C8 vs. when I inquired about the then-new GT4...

Me thinks my 'old' Gt3 needs a play date...

You're still going to have to find a dealer with an allocation, won't you? Are they really going to start selling direct from the factory?

Folks should just be patient and wait for the dust to settle.

Once the bugs have been worked out and every second car on the road is a C8 then you pull the trigger if you still wish.

What's the rush?

If they make 40k/yr of these they will be dime a dozen in a year, two tops. I may buy one then (new with 15% discount, and 3k mile almost new with 30% discount) and only after test driving it -- don't care how much of a "bargain" it appears to be on paper.

The "buzz" in this thread is created by five provocative people making 99% of the posts.

Sorry I wasn't clear. What I should have said is that you can get a car specced the way you want and pay MSRP. And yes, the dealer will have to have an allocation, but with the number of vehicles being made it would be difficult not to find one with allocation at some point. Kerbeck and MacMulkin are the #1 and #2 in the country and a good place to start. The Corvette Forums have a spreadsheet of dealers who will sell at MSRP and I believe they are trying to keep tabs on allocation as well.

Some people like attention. Anyone driving a C8 in a few months is going to turn a lot of heads. People will be wondering what in the hell just drove by.

My bad, what better reason is there to buy a C8.

Wonder what they'll look like after a few years when the roads are littered with them...

Around 10K Porsche 911's a year are sold in the USA.

40K C8's a year won't have the streets littered.

By comparison....

Plus with 12 colors and numerous interiors, 3 wing options (including naked) and all the other ways to customize I think they'll be turning heads for the duration. Even C7's still make people look.

They're going to sell a lot of these cars.

The likely difficult decision to go mid-engine is going to be a HUGE winner. Whoever had an influence on that should be commended.

The interior finishes without cheap plastic is another great choice with many other much more expensive brands not even living up to that.
