Says 76.1” width is without mirrors. Is this how width is usually quoted on cars? I thought mirrors are parts of the body too.
Sure, proper tool for the job. Reason why I’ve never tested a Lambo for my backroads either. And I much prefer a 5 series or E class for highway cruising.

We can all pick and choose different attributes and stats to debate about, but when you look at the whole package here it looks like a winning formula for the C8.

Article before C8 was announced. Interesting on production numbers.
They totally shocked everyone with the $59K starting price. Rumors were all over the place on how expensive the new C8 would be.

The 991 is already wide enough. The C8 is about identical in width as a Panamera, which sits massive on the road. The wheelbase is also so long that I wonder if GM’s advertisement of you “being closer to the wheels therefore more connected to the car and how it rotates” will carry over to Porsche owners. 10” longer wheelbase than a 991/992 is an extreme difference. It’s not gonna feel like a scalpel / extension of you. Good thing they made that extremely driver oriented cabin as it will help make a big car feel like you’ve got it wrapped around you at least somewhat (the 992 interior which will undoubtedly be of higher quality, doesn’t feel like a sports car interior at all as it sadly went pure serene luxury vibe).
One of my favorite elements of the 911 is it feels like a toy when you’re pushing it, as in compact, succinct, like you can “palm” it. The 991/992 strayed slightly away from that (the Cayman/Boxsters feel like go karts in comparison) but they’re still dainty compared to the C8. The width difference is substantial. The length difference is considerable as well.
The high and boxy hipbone and rear make me believe the C8 will feel it’s size. And the way the wheels look so dwarfed (the huge wheel gap and fact that the wheels are so tucked in they don’t look to have a sports car offset at all, certainly don’t help) really signifies how much sheetmetal there is.
Then there’s the weight. Which will, as it sits on the road without driver, be a substantial 3,600+ lbs in STANDARD trim. About 500-600 more than a base and totally standard 991.1 Carrera.
The roar of the naturally aspirated V8 will be a big player in how much fun the car will manage to emotively be on canyon roads.

For example, GM engineers formed that central enclosed tunnel between the driver and passenger seat out of aluminum. In the Audi R8, for example, that piece, along with the whole dash wall, is CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic). It is the same story with the Huracan.

It's almost as if it was stated like that on purpose so journalists could plead "honest" plausable deniability when they parrot it in their articles. Porsche is not immune to these weight games either, as their cars too become heavier with ever new model.

For narrow roads the C8 won't be in it's ideal environment. Same thing that happens on the R8, Huracan, F458/F488, etc, wider and longer cars compared to a 911/Boxster
These are the stats for the C8 along with the other MR cars that pack an engine that has close to 500hp or more.
C8 Corvette Dimensions: Wheelbase 2,723mm (107.2 in) Length 4,630mm (182.3) in Width 1933mm, (76.1 in) Height 1,234mm (48.6 in)
R8 (2nd gen) Dimensions: Wheelbase2,620 mm (103.1 in) Length4,426 mm (174.3 in) Width1,940 mm (76.4 in) Height1,240 mm (48.8 in)
Huracan Dimensions: Wheelbase2,620 mm (103.1 in) Length4,459 mm (175.6 in) Width1,924 mm (75.7 in) Height1,165 mm (45.9 in)
F458 Dimensions: Dimensions Wheelbase2,650 mm (104.3 in) Length4,527 mm (178.2 in) Width1,937 mm (76.3 in) Height1,213 mm (47.8 in)
F488 Dimensions: Dimensions Wheelbase2,650 mm (104.3 in) Length4,568 mm (179.8 in) Width1,952 mm (76.9 in) Height1,213 mm (47.8 in)
Porsche MR offerings:
Porsche GT1 Dimensions: Wheelbase 2870 (113.0 in) (From Champion Motorsports GT1 Racecar) Length4,890 mm (192.5 in) Width1,990 mm (78.3 in) Height1,140 mm (44.9 in)
Carrera GT Dimensions: Wheelbase2,730 mm (107.5 in) Length4,613 mm (181.6 in) Width1,921 mm (75.6 in) Height1,166 mm (45.9 in)
918 Dimensions: Wheelbase2,730 mm (107.5 in) Length4,643 mm (182.8 in) Width1,940 mm (76.4 in) Height1,167 mm (45.9 in)
PS: didn't include McLaren since I would not really know which one to include: MP4-12c or 650? 540/570S? or 720?

The R8, 458, 488, and 918 are all wider than the C8. The C8 is also within a few inches of them in length, with the 918 actually being slightly longer. But I have never heard any of these cars being described as a boat.

Feel free to link reviews that commonly state it feels heavy and large on roads.
