It's getting a bit unnerving again when merging or in heavy traffic. Rolling up to a roundabout and trying to time getting on is difficult when the power doesn't come on predictably, and when it does, it's a big lurch forward.

Also, the 14 seems to choose the right gears and very quickly changes when necessary. Example. The 15 will shift down to 7th gear and hold it at 40 mph, showing about 1100 RPM. That's fine for a level street, but if it tilts up at all, it should quickly drop to 6 or even 5, but it doesn't. It lugs for quite some time before either I decide to do something about it or it figures out it's in too high a gear. The 14 holds 6th at 40 very nicely and as soon as either the road tilts up or I so much as twitch the pedal, drops to 5th.

Hers is going in probably this week for 40K service. Mine'll go in for the second time right after that.
I’m starting to see something similar as well. The last week or two especially. It’s also been very warm outside (upper 80s to lower 90s) which is the first warm spell for Chicago this year, and the first time I’ve driven my (this one) CD above 65F outside air.

Not sure if it’s the weather (not that it makes this acceptable)... Skiah, you seem to notice yours more on hot days?

Mines going in for the 20k on Thursday and I’ve already described the issue to the service manager. He’s going to take a look.

lol I'm in the Pacific NW... 65* F IS a hot day! But no, it doesn't seem to be weather dependent as far as I can tell.

From my pilot training, however, it does seem logical that warmer air could make things a tad more noticeable. Warmer air is less dense, making it seem like you're at a higher altitude with thinner air. Usually it's not really noticeable on a car, but maybe the fix is so close to the limit, thinner air may reveal that.

Just speculating, though.

Interesting take on the heat. We got the tune done in the winter when it was in the 40's. It's now in the 90's every day. Could account for the changing behavior.

On my 15 CD the transmission no longer lugs the engine after the fix. I'm in FL so it is always warm. Perhaps the fix transmission reprogramming didn't take.

has anyone taken theirs in for regular service, specifically told them not to do the update but had it done anyway? My 60k is coming up soon and I really don't want the upgrade done now.

^^^ you can remind them, but the fix process requires a separate channel of communication with the settlement people. Also dealer needs to have the repair kits available. Lots of signatures. It is not something that can be done at the spur of the moment.

Agreed. Involves parts and labor, not just a flash. Plus a ton of documentation. Not something that would just get done by accident.

Dropped mine at the dealer this morning. They haven't had anyone else come in to complain about the symptoms I (and others here) are starting to notice. I gave them a pretty detailed explanation with ways to reproduce the issue (accelerate to ~40, slow down to ~22-24, like you're taking a turn, then attempt to re-accelerate back up to 40 at a normal pace, note essentially "dead" pedal for first 1-2s) - let's see what they come back with.

Well... here's the text I got from the service writer (the relevant parts for this group, anyways):

My lead tech drove the Cayenne and felt exactly what you were talking about, but said it's shifting well within the pattern for a Cayenne diesel after the emissions recall - there are no faults & per Porsche the behavior of the shifting is normal.
So.... I guess... it is what it is?

My first officer on the trip I am flying has a Q7 diesel and they got the fix. They hate it. Told me not to do it. Audi gets free ad-blue, do we? I don't think we do, but the longer warranty is a better deal I think. He says it needs to be filled every 3000 miles now.

I am going to bring mine in so it’s documented. If that’s the response, I will be going well up the chain at PCNA.

Safe to say that Porsche has really p****d off some pretty good customers. A buyback option would have been better for all in the long run. Good luck in trying to get it improved.

Like I said... stiff arming.

If that's the ultimate response on mine - from PCNA; not just our local (very good) service department - then one of two things happens. 1: a call to our class counsel to find out options and/or 2: a safety complaint to NHTSA, because someday, the dead pedal is going to cause a crash with someone trying to merge.

Default check with dealer for new update

2013 CD, got the fix back in early Jan. after the first couple of weeks, the sluggishness was very noticeable between 1200 to 1400RPM, mileage tanked to 22(used to do 30). Even Sport mode was same and practically useless/no-diff.

Took it to dealer and complained(2 weeks ago), he knew what I was taking about. Informed there is a newer software and updated it. Now feels like pre-fix (except the noise). Jury is still out on the mileage. will need to do a fresh test with tank full. Sport mode has a spirited feeling.
