My 2nd half, fix-$$$ is wisely going to (pay for) this:

I had installed it this past weekend and just need a few more things before it is totally ready for the snow.

Stopped by my local usual dealer last night. Both the sales and finance managers said they'd heard nothing about being able to release their new CD inventory for sale.

I scheduled my fix for next Tues. Was going to wait and hold out on the warranty (I'll run out of mileage WAY before I run out of time and wanted to wait until I hit 100k.... probably a little over a year from now... to take the fix) but F it. Take the fix, collect the check, it pays for Christmas this year, and then probably shop for a new (or low mileage) 2016 in the next year or so.

I am holding off until at least the end of next year. Just in case I get a surprise 1099 from the IRS and also because I would rather use all my prepaid maintenance pitstops.

The fix shouldn't have any impact on your prepaid maintenance pitstops....

Being cheap. Already paid for the refined pee. Want the settlement people to fill it up for free. I know, in the grand scheme of all it is just a couple of $ if at all

Ok. Just had the emissions fix done. 2013 CD with 51,000+ miles.
Basics - had the software and hardware done, loaner was a basic Macan, detailed inside and outside, full tank of diesel fuel. It was dropped off at 7:30am and picked it up at 5pm same day (faster than expected).

Initial impressions - when first sat inside I could tell it was updated as some of my electronics and "feature" settings were back to factory default; other settings were just as I had left them. No explanation as to why.

Initial drive away - the CD was warm so no noticeable changes - acceleration, interior noise (idle), all the same as pre-fix. Gear shifting was slower than before. May be due to software or adaptation of Tiptronic yet to fully integrate.

Next morning - the CD was cold and I definitely noticed higher RPMs at start and at cold idle. A few times on my drive to the office the transmission hunted for gears. Does not seem to lug as much, i.e. downshifts rather than holding the higher gear. We'll see if this changes over time and mileage.

Bottom line - there are initial changes but nothing that seems to be a deal breaker for me. I need to put many more miles on it to form a final conclusion but I am optimistic the favored CD will be back. I personally do not like the higher idle at start and sometimes it seems to be a higher idle when stopped (after a warm-up period too). But over time my internal reference will reset and I'll probably forget how it used to sound / feel.

I just got a call from my dealer(Cherry Hill Porsche of NJ) that they dont have the "tool" to complete the recall.
Its on back-order and they expected to receive it sometime towards the end of December.
I will try to reach some other dealerships in north Jersey and see if i can have done sooner.
No word regarding a a full tank of diesel(she isnt aware of it)!!!

This post got me intrigued so I contacted my dealer as well..... they've heard nothing in terms of pricing yet and claim they have the release to sell for today or tomorrow but no pricing yet...... still got a good idea of what inventories on the lot, but the ones that I want "aren't available yet or may only be 10% off". One dealer even had a 15 on the lot un-titled.

I have talked to a few dealers. Some knew nothing yet.... but one offered car at 12% off. Probably going to be dealer and market dependent for pricing I would imagine. Unless you are super crazy about the diesel, 12 % just does not cut it for me for a car that is 2 years old and a new generation to be released very soon.

I know one of the dealers in the Chicago area has 18 unsold new CD's in stock.

Yep. Needs to be a healthy discount. Tho the ones on Cars.com and Autotrader.com are all listed at MSRP or MSRP+.

I think there is some pent-up demand at the moment. Not sure if the demand will exceed the suddenly-available supply. Wound't surprise me if some dealers leak out their inventory slowly, letting 1-2 go at a time.

Nope, they're not.

20% is in the ballpark. Like you said, 2 year old (by model year) cars that will be valued as such the second you sign the papers. To pay full MSRP, basically, (remember, most people were getting 5-10% off new ones when they were new!) is just crazy.

Agreed 12% is not an attractive discount. One thing we have to remember is that the Diesel found a nice niche between the base and an S in terms of performance. Many of us found the base car somewhat underpowered and for a significantly smaller premium than going to the Cayenne S, got a better performing car with 50% or more better fuel economy. The new base model will perform better than the old base, being at least a second quicker to 60 mph. You can bet the base engine fuel use closes that gap with the Diesel by 2-3 mpg. The Diesel will still do better than the new base in fuel consumption, but the performance advantage is gone with new Cayenne. Still a wonderful car, but time marches on.
