My 2014 work was just complete and it was delivered to my door. Hendrick took great care of me.

I took it for a spin, it obviously was up to temperature. I can't comment on mileage, that will take a few trips to work at different speeds and temperatures. On the quick spin I took though it was around 29-30mpg and I was driving hard at times.

Observations:

- When I first pushed Sport it didn't drop gears like it usually does however after that it seemed to just fine so I'm assuming I wasn't going at a speed where it needed to. It held gears just fine in Sport. I didn't notice any holding of gears in normal mode, I guess I'll have to drive it more to notice that.
- There was some noise in the cabin like a new rattle, I think though I was just looking for something and it was all in my mind...we'll see.
- Torque still awesome.

Overall, if I didn't know it was worked on I wouldn't have noticed, it might take me a while to even know. Seems great to me. I'm pretty in tune with my cars, will likely take someone even more sensitive than me if they exist .

I'm happy today, we'll see after a day of driving tomorrow. Oh and they reset my service indicator.

Oh and I did give the guy that delivered it $20.00.

Here is what was done:

Yes.

Previously my engine would almost lug before the transmission downshifted. With the fix it down shifts much sooner. No more lugging.

Thanks, I'll make note of this and see. Now that I think about I guess I know what you are talking about. I just thought this was because it has so much torque. Interesting.

A lead foot would never notice this, I'm generally a hypermiler until I need some quick action. The nice thing about the Diesel is a little burst to get up and going never hurt on MPG much, at least on my trip to work where all the highway brings me back up to the mid 30s.

I can get the stickers too, might be tomorrow though. Here is the FE&E:

Thanks. Interesting. We are only No. 6 in fuel economy. Which SUV diesel is No. 10 best?

This is my wife's daily driver, she will not notice the sport mode because she never uses it but the noise will be an issue. She didn't like the rattle before the fix so she might ask for a Model X after the fix.

Interesting observations, Whip - thanks.

Knowing how transmissions "learn" these days, and seeing how r553 commented on a noticeable difference, but Whip didn't - I wonder if it's simply a case of the trans was reset with the fix, and it will re-learn?

Let's keep the reviews coming.

The MPG numbers shown on the new sticker are identical to the sticker delivered with my 2015 CD.

The only differences from my original Monroney is the Annual fuel cost is much lower, but that is because $3.50 a gallon was used to calculate back in 2014 and now $2.75 is. Also the Smog Rating has dropped from 6 to 5, meaning it is worse than originally claimed.

I kind of like how it stays in 8th and wafts along on the torque. Is it super quick to downshift or does it feel normal?

Wonder if the rattle is a pilot ignition or something? I seem to remember when Ford was having issues with one of their new diesels for their HD trucks some years back, they recalled them all for a fix. The trucks went in nice and quiet (very quiet, for a diesel) and came out sounding like a mechanical Cummins in the pre-2003 Dodge Rams. Very loud by any standards.

Observation today on my 2014.

- It does hold gears longer during an extended warm up. It makes it feel kind of jerky because I'm not accelerating hard. Before fix it did that a little but it never took long for the transmission to feel silky smooth.
- MPG was looking awful. But by the time I got to work it was almost 32mpg which is close. To be fair though it was 44 degrees and drizzle. I get the best mpg when temp is in 50s and 60s. I also don't know where the gas came from because the dealer put it in and I thought we were switching over the blend soon. It never is as good in the winter. I'll give updates on this because I have always paid attention to variances in mpg for the past three years.
- There was a concerning hesitation like it was about to die, I thought though I might have felt that the other night before the fix. I had run down to empty. I might have water maybe in my gas tank. I'll surely watch this closely.

Today I got notification from Chase that the VW Emission fix second half pay off was available for transfer. I've gotten all the funds I'm entitled to under the recall. Time for a new roof.
