Oops this takes more time than I thought: get the loaner.
Great heads-up on the claim number being needed.

I just looked mine up and printed it off the VWGoA claims website.

I'm definitely going to get a loaner. I look forward to them cleaning, filling up the fuel tank and then sending someone to pick the loaner up.

The print booklet arrived today. Will write down the claim number on it, put a reminder on the calendar for two years later, and just forget about it for the time being

If this has been discussed, sorry I didn’t see it. But some time ago, I read that the 2.1 vehicles would get software and a new exhaust while the 2.2’s would only need to receive new software to get into compliance. Is that still the case?

FYI, we have until December 31, 2019 to get the fix complete and submit for the compensation.

What are these stickers of which you speak? It's the first I've heard of them. Where are they affixed?

The stickers they were short at my dealer are to be attached to the loaner car form which is part of the over complicated process to get the diesel emission fix applied to the car. There will be other stickers attached under the hood as proof the fix was installed. I believe they have those under hood stickers in hand at the dealer. In retrospect I should have gone next month or later to let the kinks be worked out of the process. In the meantime I have a Macan loaner with 248 miles on it.

Just got my booklet, too, and after looking at the warranty again, I'm curious about all the gaming of the system. It seems that no matter when you get your fix done, you'll get a max total of 10 years/120K warranty coverage.

For example, for our 2014, the 10 year warranty would be out to 2020 now, with the 6/100. If I get the fix tomorrow, the warranty is the GREATER of either the 10/120 or 4/48 from fix date.

But if I wait until just before the 6/100 is up and get the fix (the Dec 2019 date not withstanding), I'd still only be good to 2024/120K. 6/100 expires around 9/2020 now. Get fix in 8/2020 and add 48 months and, voila, that's 8/2024. But since I already have the greater of the two options, I get the fix tomorrow and, whaddya know? The warranty goes out to 9/2024 or 10 years from date of purchase.

Even with that 8/125 CPO addition, the settlement seems to limit the total to 10 years and 120K from original warranty start in all cases. Except, I guess, if you have 8/125K, you'll now have 10/125K instead of 120K.

Oh, and I don't have to wait to get a check.

There is no gaming. The discussion has to do with changes in performance. With the courtesy CPO extended warranty, I don't need to deal with changes in performance until 2019.

If reports come back that the fix is nothing to be afraid of, then I'll do it earlier and collect the second half.

Remember, once you do the fix, you can't go back to the former software. It is not like rooting an Androids phone.

Is discussed in the booklet under emissions limits, see:

This is confusing to read. I assume some of this 2014 written is meant to be 2024?

New car warranty is 4/50 from In Service Date (ISD)
CPO had been granted to 6/100 from ISD unless you already had a CPO.
This warranty is only on the long block, turbo, exhaust and emissions system and that's good 4/48 from date of fix, or 10/120 from ISD whichever is first.

So three different warranties.

I don't see it that way. The original new car courtesy warranty has just been extended from the 4/50 to 6/100 according to the email I received; it's not a separate and distinct warranty. And the fix warranty provision:

Originally Posted by Porsche info book page 10
The warranty period for the "Extended Emissions Warranty" shal be the greater of:
  • 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's original in-service date; OR
  • 4 years or 48,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date and mileage at which the emissions modification was performed
is sort of separate-ish warranty. But it effectively extends the warranty on the covered items to the 10/120K, though (or 4/48K from installation... whichever is longer), so I'd call it also an extension. Again, the pamphlet says it's an extension of the warranty on the "Emissions Control System", too.

Shades of gray, here, really, but the point I was getting at is on timing out the fix to get more warranty time and I don't see how you gain anything there in terms of a longer warranty period by waiting until your warranty is about to expire as some have said previously in this thread.

Do it today and the greater of the two is the 10 year/120K provision. But wait until my 6 year warranty is up and they extend it by 4 more years for... wait for it... 10 years. And since both options are a whichever comes first, mileage won't really be a factor. The limit is, effectively, 10 years as long as you don't go over the 120K. Logic here being that if you're close to 120K before the 6 years is up and time it out to wait, you'll get the extra 48K, but when you hit 10 years, you're done (original ISD(extended) + 4 years).

If you're at the 6 year point and are at 120K, you'll get another 48K miles (or 2.4 years, given a 20K mile/year rate to get to 120K by 6 years), so that might be worth waiting for.

Before the settlement was reached there was an additional 1 year warranty added to the CPO warranty. I was the third owner of my 2013 diesel and the in service date was November of 2012 and the warranty (prior to the fix and settlement and all this other chatter) date went out to November of 2019, which is seven years (I called PNA to confirm). So, I have a seven year CPO and an additional warranty for the engine that goes out to November of 2022-is this correct still?

If you owned a CPO CD, then they placed another CPO on top of the exisiting CPO. I know because I own a 2013 which I purchased with the CPO warranty. The addition of the second CPO gives me eight years from In Service Date and 125,000 miles. I called Porsche some months ago and they confirmed this is true!
