The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#5521
This is what excites me about my search for a 997 GT3. And thank you Robocop305 for reaching out to share his information on cars he's seen
Honestly, the search for the right car was fun in the beginning but its becoming very frustrating. After my E90 M3 sale, Ive been chasing something as exhilarating and visceral and I thought the 991.1 S in the right color would fix that, but I was wrong. Its VERY encouraging to hear you guys speak of the love you have for this chassis. I want a car Im hooked on. One that excites me on every start. Seems I may be headed in the right direction

I had the same experience with the 981 2016 GT4. I had been so accustomed to the torque pull of my (20 years older!!!) 964 Turbo, that the 981 GT4 felt anemic. Sure it had the allure of the 3rd peddle, exhaust note, and since I am still no expert at heel/toe, the auto-rev-match made me feel like a pro,... but once I drove the 997 GT3, it ALL MADE SENSE. Clear winner. It became OBVIOUS.
Having said that, I've now often wondered how the 718 GT4 might fair in that same comparison, since the HP is now creeping up towards our 997GT3 range,... and thus wondered if Porsche has still "toned down" the 718 GT4 in comparison to the GT3's (especially against the Mezger, which has now truly won my heart & soul),....
.... To stay true to this "For Sale" thread,... I'll thrown this one back into the archives,... since it now says they are "under contract" for completed sale. This one was right down the road from me....

A couple of years ago I sold my 2009 Carrera S PDK. It was a real nice car and I had it very sorted out to include factory GT2 carbon seats, Tubi exhaust, etc.. All hell broke loose when I purchased a 2008 Lotus Elise SC, the rawness of the Lotus, no power assist steering, 6 speed manual and lightness change my entire perspective about cars. I literally stopped using the Porsche and ended up selling it. I wanted to experience another light and raw car and I ended adding to my garage a 2018 Alfa Rome 4C. The 4C is an amazing machine that's fast with a proper tune. The car felt very good and involved but I finally realized that I'm a 3 pedal guy. I promised to myself that the only car that I would trade the 4C for would be a 997 GT3. A few weeks ago I decide to sell my 4C to start the hunt for a 997 GT3. Well, I'm waiting for the transport company to deliver my baby today. As I got older, I started to realize that car don't have to be the fastest or with the most HP. Today, I'm all about total driver's involvement and the connection to the road. This brings me to the perfect car.......The 997 GT3!!!!!!
I think I'm done for now with my GT3 and the Lotus. They don't make analog cars like these anymore. New cars today are full of electronics and drivers assist that diminishes the connection to the road.

2007 GT3. Arctic Silver. Adaptive sport seats. 19k miles. Looks like a pretty clean car, can't tell if there is clear film on the front of it or not. WP0AC29977S792641

However, my concern with not having them is why it doesn't have them. My guess is somewhere along the way they resprayed the front bumper and they decided to fill them. Or someone ordered the bumper that does not include headlamp washer cutouts. Either way, it means there is a wuestion about what caused either a bumper replacement or repaint. A paint meter on the front of the car would be a good idea at the least (of course on the bumper you will be unable to get a reading, unless you have a $3k meter). If you Google the VIN, there is some information out there on the previous owner, so someone could probably reach out if they felt comfortable and were very interested in the car to know why it was replaced/filled. You may also want to see if the normal divots for license plate holes is there on the front, which all 997.1 GT3's had. They aren't actual drill marks, but just round circles that are in the bumper itself where a license plate would drill.

As far as I know, it was not an option to delete, however, Porsche lists a part number for GT3 bumpers both with and without headlamp washers. My guess is that certain markets received them standard, some didn't, some had the option to delete, etc.
