The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#3946
No idea why they placed Range 1 so high, ABOVE the rev limit, in 997 GT3. This way, every ignition in every range is solely due to bad downshifts. And a car that's been bounced against the rev limit all its life will show ZERO over-revs as long it has been downshifted correctly.

maybe because the engine is actually fine spinning up to that point? Setting aside the bad driving debate, maybe the design/robustness of the machine has no cause to even register anything below 9k? Maybe they could have taken RL to 9k, but somewhat over-engineered it? Idk, but I doubt Porsche raised the stage 1 threshold on a 997 gt3 and made it closer on the 997 turbo “just because”. Those crazy Germans are typically pretty methodical about things.

Saying that revs under 9000 are "fine" and need not be recorded is like saying that miles under 50,000 are fine (as the car is robust enough to handle them) and need not be recorded. An "over-mileage" DME report would just count miles over 50,000.

I've seen lots of 6 GT3s with the max stage ones that can be registered (i think it's something like 65k). You can bet that's a heavily tracked car 7 GT3s with lots of stage ones are likely heavily tracked cars with bad drivers (possibly the worst car to buy hehe)

I'm glad they did because It keeps people from freaking out about the DME report In this car I'd rather see a one time mistake that registered a stage 2 or 3 than lots of ones.

If recorded ignitions in the 6-7000 rpm range spook you in a GT car then you will overcompensate for that in the (lower) price which you are willing to bid making it more attractive for the buyers who price this data correctly to get the car they want for less. As the information about the relevance of this data spreads across the market, the prices will eventually converge to where they need to be.

Actually there are thresholds. When an engine explodes because it spun too quickly, I think we hit a threshold. But I'm just poking fun. I get your point. More data is always better than less unless it's more garbage data but in this case it's not.

I know you guys think pcar market is sub-stnd,... but I still think that with less bidders in the room, there's opportunity to get a deal.... anyway, this one still has zero bids with 4 days left....
.... it's another car out of Canada, but the speedo says "MPH" ...
( ... shame no undercarriage pics)

This vid has been posted on the forum somewhere before. I'm guessing he's going 7-8/10ths on the Nordschleife. Difficult to see the tach, but I would guess he's registered at least a few range 1's on some of those downshifts. I don't think anyone here would call this 'bad driving'.

BOTTOMLINE: if you register a stage one in a 997 it's bad driving. You released the clutch way to soon or miss shifted.

I'll summarize for you:
A canadian comes up with a "scheme" to make a "killing" on his orange 2007 GT3RS. He "conspires" with a US dealer to somehow sell them the car so it has a US title. Which makes the sale very confusing as the canadian dude has some deal with the US dealer to get a "commission" on the sale. They hope that the weak Canadian dollar helps them score a pile of cash.
Unfortunately for the seller(s) they woefully underestimate the market for these cars (and the timing) and thoroughly embarrass themselves. To make it even more interesting, the seller(s) play "hide the weenie" on the rear main seal oil leak (and god knows what else), the dealer even lies about it saying it doesn't exist.
Some of the "experts" and lemmings here on RL fall for the nonsense and root on the not so transparent sale. It's ends up being highly entertaining watching in real time as the plan blows up in their face. Moral of the story, these cars are made to drive and have fun with and not to make money on.

my thought as well. Seems like pcarmarket doesn’t scrutinize reserves as much as BAT - so seems like 90% of cars on pcarmarket just go to their “deal tank” and never actually sell
