"Orange", the most popular color on the 07/08 GT3 RS and offered on the 2008 Cayman S Sport, (and referred to as "RS Orange" sometimes when ordered on PTS cars) was discontinued after 2010 as a PTS color because it didn't pass Porsche's quality tests. It was replaced in 2011 with Pastel Orange which is very, very similar.

There is only one Pastel Orange PTS 997.2 GT3, and there are....uh oh.....going off memory....a lot more RS Orange cars.....and it was sold on Bring a Trailer last year. It was one of the worst presentations of a car ever, with nascar-style brand stickers on the car, no overrev report, and a driving video that tanked the seller's own auction. Somebody took a gamble and either got one heck of a deal or they had to replace the gearbox. Always a gamble buying online, but that one was a gamble worth the risk in my opinion!
color info compliments of Eduardo, I assume?

No worries on the gear box, my pastel orange car has a full aftermarket warranty through 10-2022 that came with the car. When the ad is crappy and the comments are negative, look for a deal. Granted you need to be willing to take a risk. Remember you can always contact the seller get his number and talk to him in person about the car. The owner of the pastel orange car was a very knowledgeable car guy and appeared to be a good guy based on my dealings with him. I felt sorry for the guy.

[edit: nope]

I need to let the pandemic dust settle a bit, but I really like the 2007 GT3 that was posted upthread a bit: https://www.switchcars.com/cars-for-...orsche-911-gt3 .

Truly a coincidence. I was bored at home and that was the first thing that came to mind.

Update on "Orange" - there are two 997.2 GT3s in that color and nine 997.1 GT3s.

You indeed got a deal. If I wasn't so busy that week I would have flown out to CA to inspect it myself and bid you up quite a bit more. I had my finger on the trigger. Congrats on the score.

Thanks, for $92k I thought it was worth the risk. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, lol

I'm bored and would like to address the "thrashing" of the gearbox in the video for the pastel orange GT3 on BaT. I respectfully disagree that the gear box was thrashed, the dude executes PERFECT heal and toe rev match downshifts when going into second and first gears. Assuming you rev match properly it does absolutely no damage (IMO) to the synchros or other transmission components.

I want to stay out of the heat of this conversation, but if I remember correctly, people were mentioning that it was strange that he was blipping on every up shift.

I don't remember feeling horrific for the gear box, though I don't think I remember his shifts as being flawless. The pain point for me was the cold start video, where you can clearly see the oil and water temp gauges are cold, and he pulls out on the road and immediately started taking it to 7,000+ RPM. Hopefully he only did that while making the advertisement, and there will be no real lasting effect.

It did look bad, the seller told me that he had driven the car approx a half an hour before the video after being fully warmed up. I think he was so frustrated at that point he didn't care to respond.
