We all have different personalities. When we come to Rennllist we should practice leaving our egos at the door.
I wish you and your family the best during these times.

I think the undercarriage on the Orange RS is pretty rough for a car with only 16k miles and so uber nice everywhere else. I didn't see any oil droplets, but do see places where it looked like oil has leaked and burned on the case.
No need to poke digs at your fellow rennlisters.

I totally agree. When I purchased my car it just had the RMS replaced. There was baked old oil all over the bottom. I spent a day underneath the car with a slew of brushes and cleaner and this is what it looks like 9 years later. So even it the car has a RMS leak, I'd rather do engine work than body work.

Not to derail this thread but from my observations 7.1 GT cars had some type of undercoating goop applied at the factory (cosmoline perhaps) while the .2s did not. It's not pretty.
.1 cars also seem to be much more prone to RMS leaks. Combine the two and you end up with really nasty looking engines.

BaT seller referenced this 18k mi Canadian Pumpkin signed by Pinky Lai that brought $209k at BJ. What am I missing here? Pinky's signature worth that much?

Trying to understand bidding in $5k and $9k leaps on a no-reserve BaT auction. May be a strategy that I'm unaware of?

$138k for a Canadian car and not done yet....it's official: The Covid-19 has had zero effect on 997.1 GT3 RS values as of 4/2/2020.
(PS I don't give a crap about it being a Canadian market car, they are the same, but the market in general usually does)

I agree,.... but isn't it more a surprise/issue that it's hitting that number, when the car was reported to have hit a wall at Mosport? ... I would think that would have more of impact
or maybe I have the cars mixed up?

Some buyers are value focused and prioritize cost over virtually any other factor, there is a large pool of value focused 997 GT3 RS buyers that will bid these cars up to 130K every time regardless of the particular configuration of the car. Then there are buyers that are looking for a specific configuration and condition, those buyers are the ones that will bid a 997 GT3 RS beyond 130K.
On the subject of market activity,
With respect to recent sales, to the best of my knowledge, the last two Orange 997.1 RS's that traded hands both did so around 200K USD (Gooding and BJ). In terms of cars currently listed for sale, there is one Orange 997.1 RS on Autotrader.ca @ 159K CAD (That was driven into a wall), and one Orange 997.1 RS on Autotrader.com @ 163K USD. It's not as if there are dozens of clean low mile Orange 997.1 RS's for sale, buyers actively seeking one already know this, and while everyone loves a good deal, eventually you have to 'pay to play'.
In terms of the overall sports car market relative to COVID, consider the two F430 Scud's that were recently posted on BaT:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...30-scuderia-3/
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...30-scuderia-2/
Both low mileage @ 5K and 9K respectively, the 9K red car with no accidents sold for 183K on 2-Mar-2020, meanwhile the 5K black car with accident history was bid to 153K on 31-Mar-2020. A delta of 30K or a 16% discount from the purchase price of the red car for a previously smashed scud suggests to me that the overall sports car market has not yet been impacted by the COVID 'crisis'. It's worth noting that during this same time period (2-Mar-2020 and 31-Mar-2020) the DJIA shed 21.5%.
Finally, to state the obvious, people that can't afford a 997 GT3 RS this month couldn't afford one last month either, ...they just didn't realize it at the time.

Not sure about the stories and conditions of these $200k RS's everyone's talking about but the last three sold on BaT were:
https://bringatrailer.com/search/porsche+gt3+rs/
2/18/20 white 07 25k miles $131k
9/26/19 orange 08 10k miles $136.5k
8/13/19 orange 07 14k miles $129k
Not sure about the stories and conditions on these, either, but I don't see how the today's market would be stronger than when these auctions closed.
Then bidding in $5k and $9k leaps two days before a no-reserve auction ends. Weird...

https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/20...-gt3-rs-3-6-3/ Lot 130, only 7000 miles and seemingly immaculate.
https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Even...GT-3-RS-238940 Lot 1342, very clean car, if I recall correctly it had roughly 34,000km.
Timing, venue, presentation, condition, options, service history, how much alcohol was consumed that day... all very important factors.

Different car. The one that had the on track accident was posted a couple of posts up.

Also I agree on BAT - the cars vary widely. Take for example a CLK63 Black Series that sold for over $100k with average miles and no special history. That is a $70-80k max. But someone really wanted it, or should I say, two people really wanted it. Or people have 5 of these stashed away and are trying to set a new market price for them.

The market is clearly softening on these cars. I'm curious to know why you're here defending your "old" car, didn't you sell it to the dealer or do you have some skin in the game?
