I get it and you’re right about the recent comps, I just don’t understand the delta to the RS. Also, there have been several non-RS variants that sold for over 200k, I believe one was $240k (4k miles). So I guess all it takes is that one buyer that has to have a particular spec, color history, etc.
I think it’s just because “RS is RS” as the pundits say and most of them have turned into collectors items and stores of value at this point. The price delta between base and RS of both generations was considerably smaller pre covid and based on driving experiences alone either the base cars are considerably underpriced or the RS models are considerably overpriced because double the price for the RS is a little hard to justify now. Even the .2 RS, which had more dramatic changes to the base car than the .1, could be fairly easily replicated from a diving experience perspective by taking a base .2, doing a r&p swap, lwfw and some exhaust mods/tune to make up for the power gap, saving $130k+ in the process.
My friend is selling a real nice 2010 997.2 GT3 fully loaded for a decent price. It has around 15k miles. He is the second owner and he purchased the car from a collector. The car is fully documented and it has extensive maintenance records.

This is likely the one that sold on Pcarmarket 6 months ago. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I thought $165k for that car was a steal. Track use is the only explanation I have for why it didn’t go much higher. It’s a great spec and low mileage. @Robocop305 what is seller asking for it now?
