Is that a Porsche front bumper? It looks really wavy in that light.
yeah, it's aftermarket, and needs a bit of adjustment still. looks good mostly other than the ripples and color being off a little bit. sometimes you gamble and win, sometimes you don't
Wow, that's confidence in your polishing abilities right there. I usually do a small area at a time, just real local to the touch up spot, and then polish it as I go. Can't wait to see the after pics...

Er, what are you guys saying? That *is* the after pic!
I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The small stone chips are all completely gone. Only a few very large ones are left, (the appearance of those are greatly diminished) and I will tackle those another time.
Didn't do all of this work today, but installed it all today. I think that counts
After installing the numeric shifter last month I thought it was sad to hide it under the stock shift boot...
So I bought the shift trim from a Tip 997, took off the gear selector piece, extended the top forward about two inches and then flocked it.
Then worked with WC Lathe Werks on a Titanium shift **** and shaft. I had them extend the shaft another inch lower because I wasn't running a boot and I wanted it to completely cover the metal shaft of the shift lever.
This is absolutely brilliant. I'm having the same dilemma of not able to see the Numeric Racing shifter. I was going to just run it without a shift boot at all. But what you did inspired me to go for a more finished look.
I hope you don't mind me stealing this idea. My shift **** would be a 917 style wooden shift **** though.
Adam that looks awesome. What product did you use?
Thanks! I used 3M sandpapers, all wet. Started with 1000 grit to level the surface around the large stone chips/raised paint, then 2000 across a larger section of the hood to get rid of deep swirl marks and scratches. Finally 3000 grit over the entire hood to get it perfectly level and remove finer swirls and scratches from the rest of the panel. Done by hand using a soft sanding block, and using Quick Detailer as lubricant, frequently spraying the hood, and directly onto the sandpaper to prevent it from clogging up.
After the sanding, used a random orbital with Meguiar's Ultimate compound on yellow/cutting pads, then switched to a white/polishing pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish. I still haven't applied any wax, but am going to add a coat of synthetic wax- and that will give it an even deeper gloss and shine. I use Mother's Gold wax now, but open to suggestions/recommendations. I find the paint quite soft and marrs easily- what are you all using to protect the black paint on your 997s?

Thanks. No prob drawing inspiration from it . I considered running no shift boot too, but the exposed mounting tabs were a no go. PS, you can buy the Tip shift trim on ebay for cheap.
For those who were following my control arm seized issue, I finally have all control arms out for a new own refresh. My new arms are coming in from FCP today, and I will start reassembly. CV joints all rebuilt in front drive axles. Once the parts come in I’ll make a final nuts and bolts list.

Yeah that looks great...I need to do a few on my car now. Did you apply a clear coat on top of the touch up paint?
