Drove 500 miles each way to Lubbock to visit my sister-in-law who suffered a stroke. On the way up we stopped at the Presido San Saba in Menard. This fort was overrun by Comanches in the day and they killed everyone in it and burned the place down. One priest and a few locals survived in a building that didn’t burn. [BTW, if you want to read the best book on Comanche culture, you MUST read Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynn. It is the best book I have ever read that pulls no punches on the ruthlessness of the Comanches on anyone who set foot in their domain, but also the ruthlessness of both the Texas Rangers and the military in trying to defeat them. The best book I have read in a long time.]

On the way back to Victoria, we stopped for a quick shot of the car at one of the huge wind-powered farms that have sprouted up south of Lubbock near Winters, Texas.

Just had my 10 year old film removed and replaced by Derek at Atlanta Protective Films. He did a fantastic job - much better than the original. Very professional and beautiful work.

Way overdue - the old film was getting so milky in the winter and impossible to clean up.

Ha - I've had one forever (OK, 10 years!) and it still looks perfect. Some people think it is plastic - and the black part that threads in is, but the silver cap / cover is some sort of stamped metal and quite durable. That's a good deal you got.

Default Today I took delivery of my 997

Today I officially became a Porsche owner on more than paper. My 997 showed up just after 11 am this morning. It's as beautiful as I remember it at the dealer 3 weeks ago

First things first, I had the clear side markers on standby. Waiting for the car to show up.

Now a much cleaner look. Matches the front parking lights and tail lights. Took it for a quick spin around the block, man is a manual fun in this car.

It's a 2012 MY. It took about 18 months to find. CPO car with 16k on the clock, in excellent condition. It will stick around for about a week, then it goes into hibernation til April.

Just throw this in the air. When time comes you want to move up from a GTS, let me know when you want to flog it.

Moving up is hard to comprehend when I just moved in. Thank you for for the kind words, I still can't believe I own this one. If and when, I would gladly let you know.

Enjoy the last generation of the driver's car. They just don't make them like that anymore.

I think I already said this when you announced your purchase but worth repeating now that it's in your garage. Probably one of very, very few builds like that around no matter how far and wide you look. Congratulations. Definitely a keeper. Can't imagine you'll ever get tired of it.

I’ve been debating coil overs for months if not years lol. Where did you find them? Pretty pricey no?

Thank you, it means a lot to me to hear really knowledgeable people say these things. At this point I should probably shut up about it because I'm starting to think I'm taking too many victory laps.

It's hard though, while owning a Porsche for some is just another car, this is reaching another high point for me and helps validate hard work and perseverance.
