What's your budget? I purchased a 03 last year. Two owner car, 35K mi., MSRP $148K, 6 speed,X50 and so on for $45K. I think prices have gone up a bit, but still there are good deals out there. How about this one? 39K mi. Pretty loaded car for $39.7K.

I’d spend up to 45 on the right car, but looking closer to 40-43k

I saw that car, there’s a waiting list for it, but I also really prefer a coupe. The two I listed are the only two I’ve found that are priced to sell and are 6speeds.

I think you could do better, I'd wait.

That’s what I am leaning towards. The car for 37,500 w/ 80k got me excited but I’m really worried about dumping 10k into fixing the gearbox right off the bat.

Yeah, the transmission thing would make me very nervous. I will keep an eye out for you. Have you checked out Park Place? They have some nice 996 TTs once in a while.

Yep. They just had a nice x50 but they price their cars right now at 48-52k and with CA use tax I’ll be way over budget. Heard they don’t like to haggle at all.

Was it a cab? If it was a coupe that was a screaming deal, and not very representative of the market. I wouldn't let go of my car, very similar to your description, for a penny less than $50k.

Are you referring to the Atlas Gray '04 Cab that I checked out? Although it's priced to sell at $40K, it's going to need a healthy injection of cash to make it right.

$40K is definitely a tough price point....these are not issue free cars.

~$50K is the sweet spot for great drivers IMO.

A coupe, with some records. I had to sort out a few minor issues.

I guess this is the place to brag about my recent purchase. BMW dealer in West Florida took an '04 Tip Cab in trade & put it on the market at $29,950 because it had 105K miles. I was on it in a heartbeat. Had them take a shot of the paper tag under the hood... X50. We were negotiating when they apparently did a little research & discovered they'd underpriced it (I still had a coupe to sell and didn't want to overextend myself, but I could put a healthy downpayment on it before selling). They repriced it at $31,XXX. Said they had 'a lot of inquiries,' but also got a windshield crack & then a CEL, and I think they started feeling exposed. I wasn't able to fly 3000 miles to see the car so had the salesman video every operation from cold start showing gauge cluster to top up/down, spoiler function, wipers, lights, oil level check & drip check. All good (great salesman). They put in a new windshield and MAF, and sold it to me for $28.4K plus a $799 "dealer fee." Used their transport service for $1350 to Los Angeles. Truck driver had put 39 miles on it somehow... but it exceeded my expectations. No major issues.

Great purchase Techweenie. An X50 cab for under $30k is quite a deal.

Sounds your trucker went on a date with your car.

Indeed it does. I'd have been concerned if it was a 6-speed. Tippy, not so much.

Back to the CL deals. This is nearby, but been on CL for a couple months. Likely not gonna bring that "firm price."
