Yeah, I think the buyer got really lucky on that one. I believe cburke lifted the reserve when it hit $30k. He seemed to be happy with the sale so that's what counts. I was thinking it would hit $35k or so. I know mods typically don't help but his car did have a few nice ones.

Is this the first time you will be using Bat? I've never used it before but have been considering it as well for a non-Porsche also. I'll be watching for your listing, good luck with the sale.

Yes, it will be the first time. I've really heard nothing but good things about BaT. This car that I'm putting up is one that I bought for the auto museum right before it opened so that the staff could use it as they saw fit. They've used it as an interactive exhibit, for offsite promotions (such as at KC Royals games), to give classic car rides in, etc. Although it is a German air-cooled car, it's going to tell us nothing about the Porsche market.
My BaT username is the same as my RL username, BTW. Would be great for it to get a little love from the RL brothers. It's going at no reserve. I will be using the proceeds to buy another vehicle for the museum - thinking about buying a 944 to let the local high school art department turn into an art car and then auctioning it at our annual fundraising dinner next spring.

It's been for sale for months around here. Either there's a "story" or people are scared of the mods/implication of track use because of the mods.

Maybe as I'm not from the Porsche world, mods to a car never scared me as much as what brand they are and who installed them. I've bought and sold numerous heavily modified cars and while it takes a "special" buyer, they have always sold without issue.

As my current HEAVILY modified Viper is for sale and I plan on buying a 996tt, mods would be a plus for me!

I am looking to buy a 996TT now and this car is local to me. In my case I skipped looking at it due to a combination of track heavy mods, a chipped rear tail light and the exhaust pipes look out of alignment in relation to the bumper. All of which suggests to me that this car has been driven hard and may or may not have been maintained. Since I am looking for a daily driver and not a track car, decided to pass looking at it

there are a couple of cars I would recommend you check out first, ones that were high on my list but I found an X50 near me so I jumped on it. Check out the X50 that is on the Phoenix Craigslist, I think that would be a potentialy strong one. And then look at the ones at millennia motors in Florida. Those might be of interest to you as well.

I agree on the chipped tail. No way they should be close to that money and not have the car perfect!

There seem to be a good number of cars out there. Once I'm cash in hand...hope soon, I guess this thread will be a GIANT help!

Was going to post the same comment. The mileage is killing that one. I know somebody who sold a ~45k mile GT2 example within the last year for ~92k, guess the miles scare people? Sheesh, under 40k isn't anything on these motors.

That Estate car was checked out by my mechanic and needs a ton of stuff including clutch etc. The RO came to 33k I think.
