This has been up for ~3 weeks now. It was originally posted both here and CL at the same time, but the thread was deleted here and I was told by an admin here that the lister was a scammer. I've spoken to the person via email/text who posted it and haven't yet been able to determine if that's true, but it certainly doesn't seem so. Anyone else come across this car? It was re-posted again today to LA, where originally it was just posted to Phoenix.

It looks clean and has a nice price, but I am afraid to commit further since the admin here was certain it was fraud. None of the photos match any google reverse image searches either.
The sales ad is written like other scam ads I’ve seen. I’m not saying it’s a scam, just written different then most real ads. Also if their phone number isn’t in the body of the ad, I always pass. And if your still unsure, try to set up a meeting to see the item. Scammers always have excuses why they can’t meet up. Oh and ask for then VIN number see if they give you a correct one.

I have the number, but only because they text me some additional photos, plus an extra photo I requested (under hood tag)

Wish I was closer so I could just go see it, but it's ~300 miles.

whats the VIN number? And if it’s not a scammer, there are plenty of places in Phoenix area to perform a PPI so you don’t have to waste a trip. If that checks out, then fly out and look at it in person. Don’t like it at that point then walk away. Or finish the deal and drive home.

Spoiler is probably toast too given that it’s only shown deployed. Factory blue belts!

hmm pics are suspicious due to various different tints on windows in pics... looks like in one pic only rears are tinted, then another no tint, and another with full tint...

I was totally scammed last weekend by a 996tt craigslist ad. Flew myself and a porsche friend down to LA only to find it a waste of time and money... feeling a little vulnerable walking around So Cal with a boatload of cash. He got my deposit, but we at least got out of there before we got robbed. Here's the ad, the title and the pic he sent.

Can you share exactly how you were scammed? B/c looking at those pictures alone, I or someone else could easily fall for that. Was this photoshopped?Did the guy just stopped responding?

That's crazy, would love to know more too.

It was also posted on Pelican at some point (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...cabriolet.html) but the link has expired already.

I would have wanted to see ALL of that CA title, including the part covered by the post-it note. Any way to track down your deposit? No bueno for sure.

The ad says carbon fiber package; the photo shows none.

The steering wheel has it, but I am not sure if you could get CF in 2002 on just the wheel or if it was the whole package.

But now the story above with the guy flying out has me spooked.

Sorry to hear that. Craigslist is a bottom feeders' cesspool, I wouldn't buy anything more valuable than a toaster oven on it.

I sold my '02 Turbo on Craigslist. I sell a lot of stuff on Craigslist. I also use the telephone and online forums. It's not the medium. It's the messenger.
